Why shouldn't we have a graduation? All the other schools do. This isn't something you can just take out of the agenda. Why not take out a dodgeball tourney? It's just not fair.

Some of my best memories are from our end of year 8th grade activities, I would have loved for my son to have the same experiences.

Academic achievements are important to celebrate. Special ed too. This is a milestone that I believe the district has overlooked. Parking can be orchestrated accordingly. The ceremony can be simple acknowledging their 8 years of grammar school. Hopeful they will reconsider under the appropriate circumstances.

As a alum of Yorkvilke I am extremely disappointed that the promotion was taken away. I had one in 8th grade and these kids deserve one today!!

All children should be able to show what they have accomplished. Bring back the graduation/promotion.

are you kidding me? Taking away graduation? Then parents wonder why their kids hate school and do not want to further their education after HS. Such a shame a petition has to be signed...shame on you district 115.

every child should have a graduation ceremony !!! it's bad enough some schools took away the cap and let them be in just a gown . don't take this away from the kids they do work so hard and deserve to be acknowledged

I have spoken to a Mrs Kathy Anderson who works as the assistant to Mr.Shimp our Superintendant and she said if we want them to reinstate a 8th grade Graduation Ceremony to get as many parents and students to attend the next school board meeting on June 8th at Yorkville High School to take a stand and say that we want the Graduattion reinstated.

Graduation is a right of passages and to deny the students and their families this milestone is just very wrong . We had looked forward to celebrating this next phase of our son's life but we will not have this opportunity given the schools choice to take this important event away. The school has many other events that mean much less. Bring it back!

it don't matter about what color or neighborhood you go to or live in our children have the right to walk across the stage and get a diploma how dare you do something deceiving like this to all our eighth-graders they deserve to walk across the stage 2015 us as parents need to go up to Yorkville middle school and stand in front of the school until they have a graduation

Kids work hard all year and look forward to 8th grade graduation ! I can imagine how disappointed these kids and parents are ! Shame on you for taking it away. Let's be honest even children in the ghetto communities get a graduation and that's unsafe. Yorkville is worried about crowding and parking , ok farmland !
