Father Nick blessed our family- he married us, baptized our children, guided us in God's footsteps in Little Halos. Every time we came to the church he welcomed us, every time we called he answred, every time we emailed or texted, Father Nick responded. We love Saint Athanasius because of Father Nick. From our first church to our move to the new church, we followed Father Nick. We love you! BRING BACK FATHER NICK

Father Nick is a great Priest and a wonderful man who has supported my family for over 25 years. I am shocked and very disappointed in this cowardly and unfair move. His parishioners love him and this political act is not in the spirit of the Greek Orthodox religion.

Father Nick is a genuine individual with an enormous heart. His superiors who ordered this are cowards. They wait until after the festival and notify the parish 2 days before kicking him out the door. Is this the actions of true Christians ? Let's see how this decision plays out when people leave the church and fair share can no longer be paid to the diocese

After much thought and reflection over this situation, I am confused and frustrated at the lack of communication and information on this matter. By the numbers, Saint Athanasius serves over 800 families yet there are a lot more than 800 families represented in this petition. A priest who has brought spiritual turmoil to a community would not have that same community (and more) rallying in solidarity to show support for such a man. This makes me question the hierarchal system that is the Metropolis of Boston. There have been a few cases to my knowledge where the Metropolitan and his entourage have the tendency to be corrupt in relieving of priests/ parish councils for personal friends or the highest bidders. Beyond the lack of honesty showed by the powers that be, I think the question that needs to be answered is what is the ultimate job of a priest and has Fr. Nick been doing that job and fulfilling those obligations. The job of a priest is to serve the people, to be a rock in people's lives. A priest is the foundation of a community and brings people together for fellowship. A priest is there to support others in times of need. I and about 1,559+ people can honestly say that in our opinions he is all that and more. I urge everyone to share this story and to not only have Fr. Nick reinstated, but to also have the Metropolitan and his entourage investigated by the patriarchate because anyone who is willing to turn a community upside down for selfish reasons is not worthy of serving the church in their positions.

Imagine what a different world it would be if every church around the world had a Father Kastanas priest.

Father Nick is the soul of StAthanasius. He has been the spiritual leader for the community for the last 28 years. His removal in my opinion is done out of jealousy and need of control from his superiors. I think he should stay and they should go.Without him there will probably be a mass exodus .

I had the blessing to know Father Kastanas who welcomed my family and young children at the time after another heart breaking event that splintered the community of St. Nicholas community of Lexington MA some 20 odd years ago curiously tied also to losing another loving priest back then.... Father Nick, I remember extended a warm welcome to our 3 young children at the time and made it home every Sunday with a genuinely felt smile and presence that you know to be true every time he greets you even years later ....and still on a First Name Basis! I find that truly amazing that he connects to so many people and makes you feel Welcome! My children would be robbed of any sense of community and family connection, church and part of my heritage growing up had it not been for his heartfelt and embracing spirit especially when I was going through my divorce....It is saddening and unjust to ponder what is happening to this kind Father today and even greater what can happen to a community like St. Athanasius at its aftermath. Let's pray for unity and wisdom within all ranks including the Archidiocese and mostly our community of St. Athanasius... We want Fr. Nick back! We want to see his smile at the end of every Sunday service leading us on a hard week ahead...help him stay where he Belongs! At St. Athanasius!
