Father Nick has always been a huge influence in my friends lives that attend the church. He has given them all so much guidance that has helped them excel and be the best they can be as they became adults. I hope this decision will be reversed because in our world we live in today we need more people like Father Nick helping our youth succeed.

Father Kastanas built and brought the church community together. Those that have initiated this awful decision to remove Father Kastanas should be the ones to be removed from St. Athanasius church and community.

I am not Greek, and have never attended this church. But I grew up in Arlington, and all my life I have heard of Father Nick. Why would anyone remove this beloved man from this church? When so many are turning away, he brought people TO this church! Listen to what your parishioners are saying!

We are deeply saddened and heartbroken, as is the rest of our family.
Father Nick has, selflessly and tirelessly, devoted his life to his church and has always been there for all of us. Over the years, his compassion and caring have guided us through some very difficult times, providing our family with his love, comfort and support. May God continue to bless Father Nick and his family. Our love, thanks, appreciation and prayers go out to them. Please reconsider this decision.

They should be ashamed of this behavior. How do you expect to keep the faith going with such hypocrisy? Bring back Father Nick.

They did the same thing to St Nektarios FALSE accusations. The devil attacks the ones closes to God the most.

I've never met Father Nick, but it is obvious that he is just the latest victim of an out of touch Metropolitan and a small group of vindictive parish council members. There are similar stories in every metropolis -- going both ways -- priests that should be reprimanded and others who are unfairly targeted.
With such a lack of leadership is it any wonder our church is shrinking each year?

Father Nick has touched so many lives, mine included, by his deep love for God, his humble spirit, his genuine kindness and his tireless devotion. I remember one winter storm when no one made it to church, but Father Nick was there to serve Divine Liturgy. He gives to the poor, he is there for those in need. He truly exemplifies Christian love. This is shocking news. God bless him and the whole parish.

Although I don't know Father Nick however I do know what you are all going through. I live in a small town in Australia and for about at least 20 years we never had a Greek Orthodox priest at our local church. Now we finally have a Greek priest who is brilliant and brought our church back to life. However we have a few opinionated Greeks who are trying to create all sorts of problems in the church. There is risk that our church will close its doors again. This is so sad and unchristian. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and Father Nick. Hopefully there is a happy ending to this saga.
