I had no other choice but to go see Father Nick during his last day. It felt as though I was giving back. He has always been there for me and my family all those years we have attended church, participated in church related programs and events, in addition to having certain issues. He is truly a positive person, and today he spoke food for thought as he always does when he is preaching. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to what he had to say. However, I find it very disgusting how the Parish Council only cares about money and power more than the church and the community. This is unacceptable and it needs to stop. It is the people who create the church a warm and welcome place to be, not the Parish Council. Also, the people of the church have every right to know as to why the priest has no other choice but to resign. The Parish Council has no right to fire the priest without telling people why. That is very inhumane and unacceptable. There is no church without Father Nick.

I have been reading my community's comments and I'm deeply saddened and disappointed with the events that lead to the removal of a well respected and loved man. At a time when so many are questioning organized faith. This feeds that question. DO THE RIGHT THING

The parishioners of Ssint Athanasios deserve to know why our beloved Father Nick has been removed from his position as our priest after serving tirelessly for almost 28 years. This is unfair and unjust. We have a community in disbelief. God bless Father Nick and his family and grant them peace.

In my experience, Fr. Nick is the epitome of a holy man — a person whose true mission is solely to enhance the spiritual lives of those around him. Unfortunately, through his firing, others have shown themselves to be so much less than he is. When the church reveals its ugly side — hunger of power and money — it is a sad day, and Jesus must weep.
Fr. Nick has no obligation to me. I am not his parishioner. I played the organ at weddings in his church a few times when I was a teenager in the 80’s, and have seen him a handful of times since, yet when he heard my son got leukemia a few years ago, he reached out to pray with me. This is who all priests should be and, frankly, who ALL of us should try to be. Yet, instead, through his firing, we again see who we unfortunately sometimes are. As a result, one of God’s lights has been unnecessarily dimmed. Please let His light continue to shine brightly through Fr. Nick at his parish.
