Dear Hearty Hearts,
I vehemently support the reinstatement of Dr. Zucker. He has rescued more people in his lifetime than many in the field will ever attain! And he did it within the restrictive tx rules environment (which we all now know are being revised.)
He never took the easy way out by choosing the "best" patients ( as many centers do to make their numbers look good or to boost recruit ment of subjects for their research protocols). Oh no, not Dr. Zucker - he took all and did his best to help each patient to live!!!
As one who has frequented and worked with the medical elite of Ivy League associated hospitals, I would only go to Dr Zucker at Newark Beth Israel for evaluation and subsequent surgery only, but only if he managed our case for my family.
This action is a travesty, and I beg Newark Beth Israel’s administration to do the right thing for the people under-served by the system. NBI admin was wise enough to bring Dr. Zucker on board. I challenge you to do the right thing again, please.
(I am not a transplant recipient, but I am a more than a close friend of a Dr. Zucker transplant recipient.) Dr. Zucker nurtured us through the process during a long period of denial. Then, he guided and nurtured us through the many obstacles on the road to the actual transplant – 4 months of ups and downs. We were lucky to have a happy ending but, I know his experise, patient respect, and care is understood as how it happened working with a stellar staff - The ICU Nurses, Nursing Assistants were all the best of the best, according to Dr. Zucker’s standards.
(I am also the parent of a child who was on life support and she eventually died - not related to transplant - so I do get the family issues but there is so much more to family feelings.)

Dr. Mark Zucker saved my nieces life, without his expertise I am sure heaven would have one more angle. He is an incredibly brilliant doctor that we are lucky to have running this program.

Dr. Zucker saved my husband's life with a heart transplant 6 years ago.
The NBI transplant program, created by Dr. Zucker, also flourished under his direction and will not be the same without him. Not only is he a brilliant physician, but he is also a wonderful, caring human being. I've totally lost my respect for RWJBH and NBI over this debacle. PLEASE BRING HIM BACK IMMEDIATELY!. You are jeopardizing the care of past, present, and future transplant patients!

This man saved my sisters life and deserves fair treatment which has been denied with statements taken out of context, amplified inappropriately. His deeds speaks volumes and my sister would not be here without him.
