I have anxiety and so School and being around others takes out a lot of energy from me, causing me to need to go to sleep early or to take long naps after school to be well rested for the next school day, I also have many Extracurriculars that requires me to sometimes stay later than 6PM, The only way I can work on my assignments, maintain my grades, and keep my own mental health in check is by doing my work during cougars time! I cannot drive and my parents are always busy so I cannot stay after school most of the time besides when I do my Extracurriculars, Taking away CougarTime is a Burden on most your students. Oakton Administration, I can promise you that you’re doing more harm to your students than good.

My school used to have a similar thing called Flex, and now it's been abolished. Trust me, it's horrible.

I don’t understand. This is making the school look worse. Honestly everyone’s grades are gonna go down and oakton will 100% not be the same. Even if ct is taken out, Oakton students will be mad. They won’t stop there

Dear Oakton Administration,
We would like to express our concern for the removal of Cougar Time. We feel that it will put all students at a disadvantage for these reasons:
1. Students will not be able to ask for clarification on homework or projects before the assignments are due. Asking all students to come before or after school is not feasible for either students or teachers.
2. Not all students can stay after school and go to teachers -- they have to ride the bus, have club meetings, etc. This will result in lower grades in classes. By removing Cougar Time, this puts a burden on parents to drive their children earlier or pick them up later, which will result in more time that students are unsupervised at school.
3. Cougar Time will no longer be able to be used for travel periods for Academy Students because they will be missing reviews or help from their teachers.
4. Students will no longer be able to be tutored or tutor students during 4th period, which will make it much harder to fulfill hours for multiple Honor Societies or for diploma seals.
5. Students who participate in extracurricular activities, such as clubs or sports, will not have the opportunity to ask for help after school from teachers even if the teachers are able to stay after.
6. Teachers cannot be available every day after school for their students. Some teachers cannot stay after any days because they have children they need to take care of. Without Cougar Time, it is practically required that they have these after-school "office hours" or risk their students failing. Also, even if teachers are available one day a week, teacher's after-school hours will overlap, forcing students to choose one class over another instead of achieving in every class.
7. Because there will be 45 minutes less to work on homework during school, students will be working 45 minutes more at home and therefore will have 45 m

Hope Im the 1300th one to sign but yea ct is critical for students of the ohs. I understand there are many students who walk around during ct but let them be. Ct is and will be the most efficient time for now and the future.

I understand the frustration from the oakton admin, but i think it's really unfair that the whole school will be punished for the wrong doings of just a minor population. I am a Junior. I get homework. A lot. I also have to do after school activities which take up tons of time. Without CT, i have to try to get all of this work done and get at least 5.5 hours of sleep to (mostly) function properly. Please consider bringing back CT with the same scheduling as the previous years.
