There needs to be more support for women that would like to breastfeed in Barrie.

We definitely need lactation services at RVH. The budget needs to be increased to include these services. The already stretched and "in the deficit budget" needs to go back to the drawing board and be increased so the women of simcoe and surrounding counties have the services that many of the GTA hospitals already have.

35 weeks pregnant with my second child i can support 110% that lactation support services are essentials !

LC should be available right from the start. With a good start breast feeding is done more successfully!

This is a vital service for all moms, new and new again. We just had our second baby and our roommate struggled through the night trying to feed her little one. It got to the point where I went in to lend a hand and called the nurses to assist her as her baby creid for hours.
She would have benefitted tremendously by some professional support.

As a birthing unit nurse at RvH I see the huge need for my patients and their families. As a mom, I was also in need of lactation help but had trouble finding resources.

Breastfeeding should continue past 6 months and stop when baby is ready. Most moms won't make it past the first week without support from a qualified and experienced lactation consultant of the mother's choice.

When I had my first son, the lactation consultants at RVH were amazing! So helpful!
When I had my second son, I was disappointed to hear that I had to go to the Well Baby clinic to meet with the consultant, and that she was only their certain days....made things much harder (although when we did meet, she was fantastic as well)
RVH, please recognize the importance of lactation support to new mothers!!

I feel the more help and support that a mother has with breast feeding at the hospital, the more likely she would be to continue feeding her baby from the breast at home.

This is a def must! Unfortunately most OB nurses do not have the extra breastfeeding courses to help with issues a new mom may be having while inhospital. I feel if this is also established it needs to be fully staffed by qualified Lactation consultants that can help with all issues( or at least a majority of issues)

I am a local Doula- and I feel it is important that all women have access to an LC IN HOSPITAL, sometimes the proper support is what makes or breaks a breastfeeding relationship. Please bring LC's BACK!!!

Lactation consultations must be available to support new mothers in breast feeding. It is not only the best nutrition; it also provides immunization, not to mention the emotional bonding that takes place!

Breast feeding is a difficult skill that must be learned by both mother and baby. It is so important to have lactation consultants available to support new mothers with this process. It was very important to me when I had my children. Please consider reinstating this service.
