Breast Cancer Survivors want change to new shocking policy

These aren't a luxury. These are necessities for women who have breast cancer.

Absolute disgrace

I am appalled that anyone can even think of cutting these allowances to those of us who have had the devastating news of a mastectomy. We should all be entitled to these benefits in order to return to some sense of normality, even though we can never feel wholly normal again.

Disgusting treatment of cancer patients in Ireland. As if they don't have enough to worry about, they want to cut funding for prosthesis and mastectomy bras. Takes some kinda special to do that to vulnerable people.

This is absolutely disgusting, it's targeting vulnerable people at a very vulnerable time in their lives. What about dignity and promoting self esteem???

This is an absolute disgrace. How would the minister feel if he lost part of his body to cancer. Cut back on non essentials and fund this.

Agree wholeheartedly that women should get this support

Its hard enough for people and their familys when someone has cancer without adding another worry

Its a disgrace that the minister can impliment these cuts which will directly impact the psychological well being of women who have been or are going through such a traumatic diagnosis. Typical actions for an inexperienced young man who has no sense of empathy with women or womens health.

Needed for self esteem and confidence

I have suffered breast cancer twice and have had a bilateral mastectomy. I definitely could not have afforded the wig, bandanas, breast prostheses, mastectomy bras if I had not had the Medical Card and been able to avail of these through the HSE. I am in my late 60's and live alone. It is not the woman's fault that she requires these items, she did not ask to get breast cancer! It is absolutely disgusting that the government are proposing to reduce these necessary entitlements. Abolish any ideas of reducing these entitlements.

These barbaric cuts must not go ahead!
