Say Yes to a Liquor Store inside Brandon MS City Limits

It makes sense for the revenue to be in city limits instead of money going to out of city limit liquor stores.

I am all for it. If people don’t want to partake then don’t go to the store. But it should be an option for us that do.

This would bring a lot of revenue to our city. The majority of our town goes to Flowood or Jackson to buy their wine and liquor.

Please approve this for 39042! I would rather give my money to Brandon vs Hinds or Madison county. Spillway is a 45 minute drive for me, residing on HWY 18.

I support this endeavor. However, I don't know about restricting it to one or two properly placed stores. If three or four or ten want to open, fine. (I don't believe we have the population to support ten, but don't want it restricted like that.) You can add a provision to prevent one from opening within a short distance of a church if you want (which I personally don't feel the need,) but I think the competitive spirit of the marketplace should dictate how many stores open, not an artificial limit.

I don't even drink very much, but these laws are ridiculously outdated. Normal human beings have wine with dinner. This would increase revenue in our city. It is a no-brainer. I've lived other states where liquor stores are common and where you can buy all types of liquor in grocery stores, and alcoholism, drunk driving, or poor life choices aren't any more prevalent in those places than they are here. Some of the beliefs regarding alcohol are very outdated.
