Fanucci Editore has confirmed they are releasing the translation rights for the remaining works. We have established contact with alternative publishers who are now reviewing the logistical requirements for these titles. The transition process is underway and we will monitor the final handoff to ensure a smooth release schedule.

Dear Brandon,

We are a group of Italian readers whose state of frustration has forced to contact you.

The cause of our frustration is your Italian publisher: “Fanucci editore”.

Our complaints toward Fanucci are:

  • Delays in translations. It is more than 2 years that we have been asking for "Shadows of self" and "The bands of mourning" and more than 1 year for "Arcanum Unbounded".
  • Lies. In May 2017, Fanucci promised "Shadows of self", but since then nothing changed. When we told them that we were going to contact you, we have been told that the reason for all the delays "relies on Brandon Sanderson agents".
  • Lack of communication to readers. Fanucci told us that they would have considered our petitions. We daily write on their social media pages and launched 4 different petitions in the last 2 years. We have been completely ignored. The only answer that we get is "At the moment, there is no news".
  • Lack of planning. Except for “Words of Radiance”, we have always found out that a book was out on that exact day. Readers’ impression is that they don't have medium-long term plans.
  • Lack of interest. Fanucci is neither really interested in translating your works (in the last 2 years they have not translated any of your works), nor they consider our advice to give the translation rights of your books away. In this way, your Italian fans either will never get your latest works or will have to fight for years before having them.

I am writing because I have been fighting against Fanucci Editore for 2 years and now...I am tired. Maybe by the time you get this letter, Fanucci will have translated something, but we cannot fight for 2 years every time that we ask for one of your books.

For this reason, we would like to ask you to consider the idea of changing your Italian publisher, please. Can Tor or Dragonsteel publish in Italy? Or please give us suggestions on this topic.

Finally, I would like to thank you for all your works, for your passion, for our dreams, but above all for the respect that you show every day to your readers.

Your faithfully

Italian readers

Updates

January 21, 2018

The growth of this petition has reached a level that allows us to move forward with a formal letter to Brandon Sanderson's literary agency. I am currently finalizing a dossier of the documented communication failures and publication delays to include with our request for a change in representation. Updates regarding their official response will follow once the correspondence is sent.

Fanucchi is driving me crazy. I have been waiting for years to continue the series and they just ignore every single question we ask. Please find someone else.

So tired of being lied to. They keep blaming the agents but we know better. Just let someone else publish your books so we can finally read them in peace.

They promised us those books in 2017. It is 2019 now. What a joke. We deserve better treatment than this.
