Tucker is an amazing child and has flourished in spite of the obstacles he has had to overcome. Because we are a small town and do not have services available in larger cities, it is imperative that he be able to continue this program. As a taxpayer, I am more than willing to support this program; I pray it continues.

Without these services, Tucker will deteriorate. He has a right to live a normal life, just like anybody else in this community. This family cannot afford to waste their time traveling 2 hours to Pittsburgh (and 2 hours back) when they can be spending that valuable time at home teaching their son.

While I understand the need for cutbacks, I also believe every child deserves to have an opportunity to learn.....and that looks different for some of our students. My budget is also difficult. I have to decide what my priorities are and what I can afford to do. As a taxpayer in this particular district, I would rather see a child with sight issues be helped than say, an entire elementary student body learn to swim.

As a parent of a child with serious vision issues I can tell you how important having services at a young age are -- my daughter had sercices at school through the eighth grade and as a result she is an independent adult
