although tennis and Pickleball share a court, a ball, and a net. they are 2 separate games. While both are fast-paced (at times ) and exciting they represent 2 different cultures;
tennis is traditional on the whole quiet and genteel, while Pickelball is
a fast, loud,"quick turn around" game.
in a club that has members ranging from 20 years old to the 90 year olds players there is certainly a place for both.
In summary; tennis takes years to learn, not only the skill level and strategies but also the etiquette.
with Pickelball you buy a racquet, learn how to "yell" out the score and you are a player. Did i mention Pickle is a loud AND noisy game?!?
So, i agree there should be room made for Pickleball BUT not within ear shot of the tennis club house or other resting areas.
On a personal note i know of people who have sold there desert homes because of the noise from newly built Pickleball courts adjacent to their house.
as a side note, as Pickleball grows at Braemar (and it will) you may also start to get negative comments from the golfers as they play close to the the Pickleball courts.

Due to the obnoxious noise pickleball makes, every tennis club I've been to with pickleball courts have them in a place that's least disruptive to the rest of the club. Plus we just added one permanent pickleball court, so the club should not be rushing to add another one until it has sufficiently monitored the usage. If a second court is only needed during Friday Night social events (which usually stops at the end of summer), Pro Court can be used with the temporary nets and lines.
What makes this most infuriating is the club had a secret motivation behind hosting the pro pickleball event. The proper way of going about a possible pickleball expansion would have been to send a survey out to the existing membership to get feedback before making this kind of decision!!

Do NOT ruin our tennis facility with the disruptive noise that would intrude I our tennis atmosphere. NO pickle all on court #1 or any court close to It

Taking out the showcase tennis court inappropriately elevated pickleball over tennis, and limits courts for play

Court 1 along with the courts 2,3, and 4 have always been designated for USTA. It's a great area to watch all the matches and it would be a shame to have that taken away. Court 14 is the perfect area for pickle ball. A beautiful patio can be made for it on that shelf that lies next to it. In addition, the current Pro court could easily be turned into the 2nd area for pickle ball. That way pickle ball spectators can watch ct. 14 and the Pro court and socialize in that area.

This is a terrible idea. It lowers the clubs appeal to host USTA events and seems like an obvious money decision to not pay to convert the court back. WE ARE A TENNIS CLUB with pickleball options, not the other way around.

In addition to the comments in the petition, another problem presented by the Court 1 pickleball is that the new windscreens placed around Court 1 prevent Courts 2-4 from being viewed from the deck (and vice versa), which creates a hindrance from a social aspect and for viewing league matches.

Tennis club first and foremost. Not sure about the longevity of pickleball. But tennis will always be there.

There are multiple courts up on the hill
