It’s a death trap, taxis drive straight through the red lights into oncoming traffic.

Instead of metro cops targeting Hout Bay at every opportunity to lock up visitors and residents who've had a couple of drinks after work, do some real police work and sort out this dangerous scourge on our roads

The taxis do the same at the top of a Llandudno. We need bollards to separate the turn off to Llandudno because the taxis use it as a second lane, plus they drive through the red traffic light.

Perhaps a round about would be more helpful than a traffic light that is always disrespected.

These traffic lights demonstrate the appalling lack of town planning, traffic management and law enforcement in Hout Bay. The City of Cape Town’s transport department must sort out the timing of these traffic lights as a matter of urgency before there is a serious accident or a taxi kills a pedestrian. Traffic lights are supposed to facilitate the flow of traffic. These lights are not timed properly and they cause a serious back-up of traffic in both directions on Main Road. All day, every day, taxis drive on the wrong side of the road and in the turning only lane to get ahead of the long queues of cars and then they accelerate through the red lights. Please look into the possibility of creating a traffic circle at that intersection. Or consider installing sensors underneath the road surfaces that will pick up cars coming out of the school and down Payne Street and cause the lights to change. This technology exists and has been used successfully in Jo’burg for decades. The lights regulating the traffic along Main Road stay red for too long and this is causing major back-ups. Clearly taxi drivers have no patience and they just go through the intersection against the red lights. This puts the lives of their passengers and the lives of other motorists and their passengers at risk. The timing of ALL of the traffic lights in Hout Bay must be fixed, including the lights on the Suikerbossie stretch of Victoria Road.

I believe everyone who doesn't abide to speed limits, stop at traffic signs or abide to road rules are already part of the problem. Start with yourself
