As a parent and concerned citizen something needs to be done to make this intersection safe and more efficient.

I have witnessed numerous close shaves with cars as well as pedestrians due to this lawlessness

I’ve watched way too many people jump through the red lights at this intersection.

See taxis and other cars ignoring traffic rules daily. Not safe.

This is an accident waiting to happen. Too many unlicensed texting operators floating rules of the road. Solution is needed urgently

I have written to JP smith regarding the lawlessness at this intersection & IY circle while is a daily occurrence . Do we have to wait until there is a serious accident. The city has a responsibility to ensure the safety of their constituents. They cannot absolve themselves of responsibility if there are constant complaints regarding the continuous traffic violations

I would suggest to have sensors on lights from Penzance and school, so when there are no cars coming out of Hout Bay Internatonal school or Payne Street, the lights would remain green and the traffic free flowing. This would help to prevent the situation we face daily, from taxis over taking stopped cars and jumping lights and traffic backup.

Having lived in Penzance for almost 18 years, I can definitely say this intersection has become much, much worse over the last few years. It is completely lawless at this stage, with reckless drivers (mostly taxis, but not solely) overtaking rows of stationary cars to speed straight through the red light.

This afternoon I stopped at this traffic light because it had turned red (yes, red, not amber). The car behind me zoomed around me, into the right-turning lane, and through the light. Yesterday, I had stopped behind three cars at the red light and we were all undertaken by a taxi which used the Sales Hire carpark as a short cut. Bizarrely the intersection seems to flow better when the lights are not working. Perhaps a traffic circle AND speed bumps are needed?

I leave for work at 7am in the morning and mist mornings i have to scream or hoot at a taxi who has gone through the red robot. Then later in the day they go into the turn only lane to dart out infront of the traffic I've seen this happen when school is out and kids all over. Will it take a death for something to be done.

This intersection is a potential death trap with the chances drivers take to beat the lights or backed up traffic. Soon there is going to be multiple pile-up with consequent deaths - right outside a school.

Should put speed bumps up too. Taxis permanently going around traffic. Maybe deactivate the school side in weekends.

The traffic lights were installed against better advise by highly respected city planners. These lights are a complete menace, they are dangerous and also choke up the entire one half of Hout Bay on a daily basis.

Please do this asap and a serious accident is about to happen any day now!!
