Current law in Arizona and most states doesn't require police to ask about the immigration status of those they encounter, and many police departments prohibit officers from inquiring out of fear immigrants won't cooperate in other investigations.
The new law SB1070 makes it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally. Immigrants unable to produce documents showing they are allowed to be in the U.S. could be arrested, jailed for up to six months and fined $2,500. Other provisions allow lawsuits against government agencies that hinder enforcement of immigration laws, and make it illegal to hire undocumented workers for day labor or knowingly transport them.

La Coalición Mexicana- Americana por una Reforma Migratoria (MXACIR) convoca al Boicot en contra de Arizona como protesta en contra de la ley SB – 1070 aprobada por el senado de Arizona y firmada por la gobernadora Jan Brewer. De ser aplicada dotará a oficiales de policía con el poder de detener a personas “sospechosas” de estar viviendo en los Estados Unidos como indocumentadas. La SB1070 no solo tiene un tono xenofobico sino que también fractura la relación de confianza que debería de existir entre la comunidad y dicha entidad de gobierno. Esta legislacion es un ejemplo más del por que el sistema de inmigración es un sistema inoperante que permite a piratas electos que rapten a la democracia y bloqueen un proceso de ley justo y digno para los inmigrantes. Los miembros de MXACIR evitaremos comprar productos y servicios que provengan de Arizona, además de evitar vacacionar en este estado. También promoveremos este boicot en ambos lados de la frontera. No permitiremos que el presente y el futuro de de nuestra comunidad sea obstaculizado por integrantes de la derecha extrema Americana.

AZ is going backwards fast. No way am I spending a single cent in that state until this garbage law gets repealed.
