Dead dogs, injured grandmothers, outrageous fees, puritanical dress codes, beating up doctors, then trying to smear him (the wrong one, tho) in the press. I started boycotting United when I realized their customer service policy is basically, "If you're not happy with us, it's because you didn't read the fine print where it said we were going to f**k you over."

Looking at its policy of throwing out paying customers to accommodate its employees, the resulting violence on a customer and the arrogance of its CEO, UA does not deserve my business.

This fits perfectly with their customer treatment culture. When my partner broke ankle in Cook Islands, Air New Zealand was wonderful. Then we arrived L.A., 8 hour layover before flying Vancouver. With a gigantic, heavy plaster cast from thigh to ankle, the United gate clerk refused to provide a place to lie down, inasmuch as the lounge seats with side railings were uncomfortable. Refused to find a pillow. Refused to allow him even sit in unused wheelchair, of which there were many. When I placed him in a chair and wheeled him around a bit they chased us down and made him get out. Disgraceful!

The handling of this stuation was inexusable at every level. It took United's stocks beginning to tank for the CEO to give a real apology. Absolutely disgusted with the poor judgement displayed.
