Michigan, like Ohio, needs new people in Legislature. Don't vote for anyone until you know and understand where they stand on animal abuse!

Most of these poor animals have been abused, neglected, dumped and instead of providing comfort and a chance for a new life, you are adding to the torture by your actions.

They also put dogs down when they know he o she came from a rescue that would take it back, put down dogs that have slight mange and pups they think MIGHT be exposed to parvo. Even though it is known to have a save rate of 80% with treatment.

Please do the right thing for animals. They need to be protected not punished because some won't do their job the proper way.

Michigan humane society proves over & over that they are not what they seem. And far from how they portray themselves! Very unacceptable

As you just stated, "they have a contract" ...that is voluntary. The "law" cannot order a privatized organization to do ANYTHING against their will. If you wavy specifics in that case, you'll have to contact either MHS or the owner, as I have.

This BOYCOTT is for MHS, not Detroit Animal Control

Again you are so misinformed. The animal has to be too ill or aggressive to be put to sleep. Any injury? That's why they do countless amounts of surgeries and treatments for animals, just to euthanize them. I'm so glad you work there and no what you're talking about. If they weren't there as an open door facility none of your precious no kills and other rescues would take those animals in. Or your so called friends from your rescues would just keep bringing aggressive or unhealthy dogs to MHS Detroit to euthanized on the hush hush

Problems with your list Brenden... #1 they transport more adoptable breeds from out of state to boost their numbers, while turning away many dogs in need right here in Detroit. #4 not true, if they don't pass, they are euthanized, & if they should have any injury or behaviour change AFTER they are deemed adoptable, they ARE euthanized #8 They do euthanize healthy animals & treatable animals.

You are so misinformed it's comical. Westland MHS has a legal contract with certain cities to "hold" animals. They have no legal authority. They don't go picking up animals, the police departments and the animal controls do. If the pd or animal control state that an animal is to be held at that location and can not be released until a court day, they cannot release it. They have no legal authority but cannot over rule the legal system. They do what they are told because they have to. Clearly if this wasn't the case I'm sure they'd be sued left and right and couldn't operate that way. they are doing nothing wrong but listening to the legal authority. They are not above the law.

In no place on this boycott does it say that MHS should be shut down. And yes MHS does do wonderful things, especially their cruelty investigators.... That being said; there are 10 specific reasons listed as to why this boycott it's taking place. These are EASILY corrected issues with their practices & procedures. But until they are corrected, it overshadows any good. I was going to add that none of those 10 issues are just "merely stated" but also backed with facts. I'm the case of Tracey... MHS was paid $900 directly from Tracey & her dog was euthanized BEFORE the court proceedings were over, the violating her 14th amendment. All charges were dropped on her dog, as the person bit was an intruder on her property. MHS is not required by law to do bite holds, they chose to (and choose to charge her and choose to kill her dog before the verdict... as a privatized organization, they could have backed out at anytime). If & when these 10 policies are addressed, the BOYCOTT will end

Are you talking about DAC or MHS? Two very separate facilities. MHS has runs, beds, blankets, toys, and food and water for every dog. I can not speak on behalf of DAC. Not sure how you are going to argue that when that's just what "you've heard". I know first hand I've volunteer there. Have you ever seen the Westland MHS? The dogs have glorious beautiful adoption cages.
