That's not what I've heard. I've heard completely different and they are from people who actually adopt out almost all the animals except for the few that can't be saved. They leave their animals in filth. And why do you they keep needing to hire someone? Not a great place if they have to. And do they walk dogs or have runs for them? It doesn't look like it. Didn't even look like they have toys water beds or blankets. And yes the shelter I volunteer at has all that.

Just to add..clearly MHS has nothing to hide since you have access to all the reports. But it amazes me you are all so focused on the negative. Here are 10 reasons you should support MHS
1. They do the most adoptions of any shelter in the state of Michigan. 11,000 adoptions alone between October 2014-October 2015
2. They have a food bank program for low income families so they can keep their pets and don't have to surrender
3. They work with transfer partners and rescues to help dogs with extensive medical or behavior issues, get homes through the rescues.
4. Every animal is given a health and temperament evaluation, if they pass they go up for adoption (and stay up until they are adopted) there is no time limits
5. They treat heartworm, kennel cough, uri, ear mites, mange, parasites, fleas, eye and ear infections, ect.. perform surgery to remove a broken leg and spay and neuter every single animal
6. They have a feral cat program were they sterilize, vaccinate and release healthy freaks back into the community instead of euthanizing them.
7. House lost animals, and contribute to many reunions with their owners.
8. Never euthanize for space, will transfer dogs to other locations to get a different auidence in hopes of being adopted.
9. Offer low cost euthanasia for the public
10. The oldest and largest not for profit in the state of Michigan.

Every allegation is not based on fact. Just because someone stated something does it not mean it's the truth. If MHS were to shut down who is going to take in all of those thousands of animals? No kills? Yeah, didn't think so. They'd be full in 3 days. In the case of Tracey she stated herself that the city of Westland charged her, and charged her those fees. The Michigan humane society is just the holding facility for court cases. The judge decides the fate and no financial gain is made. You all need to get your head out of your asses and realize you are not helping the problem. The problem is the community and the people that leave these animals on the steps of every shelter, in their poor sad condition. You all are miserable pathetic people.
