Chernin Entertainment is planning to create a musical movie following the rise of P.T. Barnum and Ringling Brothers Circus. This circus has recieved heavy backlash from ASPCA and PETA for the cruel ways their animals have been treated. They have mostly recieved backlash over their treatment of the Asian Elephant, which has become an endangered species as a result of humanity's actions. If you are an open animal lover, and care for all animals, including your pets, then stand against these producers, because no one wants to watch a program that makes cruel treatment of wild animals in captivity look like a good thing when it's not. Also, any actor who supports charitable causes relating to protecting endangered species are standing against all forms of animal cruelty, whether it's in a public sanctuary or in a private place. Don't let Hollywood promote someone who practically mistreated an endangered species. All living creatures deserve to be happy.

Updates

December 19, 2017

I have been reviewing the message boards to see how many people share our concerns regarding the treatment of these animals. It is clear that the public will not remain silent when wildlife is exploited for the sake of entertainment. I am currently reaching out to animal welfare organizations to discuss how we can further amplify this message.

December 19, 2017

The widespread support for this cause demonstrates a clear public refusal to tolerate the exploitation of endangered species for entertainment. This momentum confirms that people are paying close attention to how the film industry chooses to depict animal welfare.

Just like I didn't go to the circus, I won't see this ridiculous false portrayal of a horrible man.

I can't believe they would make this movie . The circus is sooo cruel to animals. How can a normal human being gain pleasure from the inhumane treatment of anonther living creature. Disgusting!

For the ignorant commemts stating how well Barnum treated animals...really? What animal in the wild likes to do tricks in front of humans? What animal leaves the wild to go in the entertainment industry? Misinformation like these need to be questioned at all times. It's as immature as someone saying animals like being in cages (zoos) or horses and huskies like to pull things or get ridden on. Go to circuses.com, there's plenty of undercover footage of abuse! And open up a science book or two, read the national geographic or pbs. to learn about animal behavior.

Appalling to glorify a form of entertainment known to abuse animals.

Absolutely not. Barnum actually supported the early movement to protect animals. Before looking foolish you need to do your research. PT Barnum was was ahead of his time and befriended one of the first animal activists. It was a different time and set of mores and not only did Barnum support Bergh, but his advice was often sought on the care of animals by early scientific research with some of his exhibits are still in the Smithsonian and at Yale and Harvard. https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2017/05/how-pt-barnum-helped-the-early-days-of-animal-rights/525489/
