XXX Berries Suspension

Berries should not be charging us for these online classes as though they are full replacement for the normal classes. I have to sit with my child to guide him through the online class which means taking time off work. I am also concerned that my child skips 5 classes and have to immediately jump to the next session. For a K1 child, it’s not going to be easy to catch up and puts a lot of stress on both children and parents. Berries should continue from class 10 or 11 when they reopen rather than skip so many classes for the kids, expecting them to learn fully through online methods. We are talking about very young children here, not mature kids who can sit and listen to a class in front of a computer.

Berries get their teachers to Zoom to our kids during the usual lesson times rather than leave it all to e-learning. My 6y old need the interaction with teachers

Berries should postpone the lessons. learning should be additional but not replacement for face to face lessons.

Clearly insufficient and a half hearted effort to replace the lessons. $50 as a token is a slap on the face and insult.

The online course cannot make it. Kids said it is boring too.

I share the same sentiments and escalated to their in-charge at TPCC. Badly handled!

Yes i agreed that this arrangement is not acceptable, the reason why i sent to Berries is because i cant teach my kid Chinese well , and why should i pay full amount for elearning which is not a live session !

Please make reasonable adjustments to fees so parents wouldn't feel its unjust.

Proposed using Zoom or other web-based software to continue their classes from home.

Same sentiments as most parents have articulated in their petitions. Berries, you need to get your act together to prevent further escalation into a full blown PR crisis. Parents have made our voices heard, time for you (Berries) to take action and resolve them.

We paid the teachers to coach our kids. Not just some online learning. The school ought to give a discount off our fees.

Non Chinese families who can't teach kids Chinese send them to Berries for experienced Chinese teachers to teach them. If this can't be done then please provide a full refund. Else provide the same classes via video conference.

Totally unacceptable. If I know how to teach then I wouldn't need to send them to Berries. Would be good if Berries can temporarily stop n resume classes again instead of hbl when I couldn't even know how to teach my kids.

The impact brought about by COVID-19 to businesses is tough for all. Having said that, the situation could have been managed better? The face to face interaction with a teacher in a classroom setting will never be the same as virtual learning. Please be fair and do not short change us. No doubt you are suffering with the additional cost and loss of revenue with a refund. I believe you will benefit from resilience package. And unfortunately you may have to make tough decisions and put your teaching staffs on no pay leave now and have them earn back in future when they have fulfilled the lessons. This will become a PR disaster if you don’t handle it proper and give us an acceptable solution.

if the kids could learn via home based learning independently, they wouldn’t need tuition. Lack of face to face guidance won’t be effective

They won’t care because they have a long waiting list.

Agreed with the petition. The refund $50 is not sufficient

Berries should give 50% refund for the HBL lessons.

Yes, paid school fee doesn’t justify.

The news article stated that there are 22,000 with Berries. The petition here is a less than 10% which I do not think Berries would think further. If they hear us, good. If they do not want to act, we should focus sharing on other centers that our kids can go to. Also, it makes me think what our kids are doing with them in 1.45 hrs each lesson if what we are doing online is exactly what they are doing with them during the face to face. Content is taught for 30 minutes for all and the rest of the time is for the teachers to go individual.
