Larry Bowa who spent 16 years in the Major Leagues as a shortstop with the Phillies, Cubs and Mets, will be eligible to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Old Timers Committe. I would like to ask all fans to sign this petion asking them to do so. If you research the statistics of all the shortstops who are in Cooperstown, you find that only one Ernie Banks has a higher fielding percentage. Also, he has less erros than most of them as well. As far as hitting, Bowa is equal to most of them. If people can clamour for Pete Rose, who betrayed the game by betting on it to be put in the Hall of Fame, then surely someone like Bowa deserves to be there as well. I encourage all Baseball fans and especially Phillies fans to sign this petition and write their own letters to the Old Timers Committee as. You can find the adress on The Baseball Hall Of Fame Web page. If you would like to compare stats, you can do that by looking yo The Baseball Almanac Web site and clicking on Stats for Hall Of Fame Shortstop. Okay my fellow baseball fans and Phillie fans lets work together and make this thing come true!

Reaching this level of support honestly feels like a heavy weight lifted off my shoulders. It is exhausting to keep pushing for recognition against the grain but seeing this many people acknowledge what Larry Bowa accomplished on the field gives me the energy to keep going.

He represents the passion of baseball. A great defensive player, two Gold Glove Awards and led the National League (NL) in fielding percentage six times. He was a player, coach and manager. His love of baseball is something that is missing from baseball today.

The HoF sadly has a record of letting in subpar players based on their personalities & appeal to fans. Others are kept out for similar reasons. Bowa is a perfect example. His stats say he should be there but outside of Philly he isn’t looked at favorably. Its time for the HoF to live up to its original purpose.

As a teen in the 1970’s, I loved watching Larry play ball. I played softball and was always outside with my pitch back practice my skills. I wanted to be a great shortstop and third base player just like Larry and Mike Schmidt. Larry deserves to be in the hall of fame. One of the greatest shortstops of all time!

I'm old enough to remember bowa as an excellent defensive shortstop who was also on a threat to seal when on base he also turn into a respectable hitter..in other words he was not an easy out ( harrelson, belanger. Alley. Michael ) & also play with his heart on his sleeve

Saw both him and Mike Schmidt as rookies. It is unbelievable to me that he is not in the Hall of Fame based on his defense alone.
