That site is wrong for a hotel.

I have grown up across from the proposed development for 25 years now. From a young age, I admired the blue herons whose countless homes are nestled amongst the large pine trees in the cove. These same trees will be disproportionately cleared in order to make room for such a large development, in return, removing the blue herons’ habitat. Not only would the tree coverage be too little to grant these beautiful birds sufficient nesting, the congested boating traffic would also negatively impact their ability to feed. This congestion would be a significant increase from the now steady flow of multiple families and quiet fishermen to the large parties of weekend goers and inexperienced boat drivers that such a development would bring. I urge you to protect these birds, as well as the integrity of our community’s small cove.

Poor decision for land use, the area has been plagued with lack of consistency in stable developments showing long term viability.

Our community does not need any more low pay jobs. We need jobs with high pay and benefits. Why time spend on project no one wants. Help the community.

The infrastructure in the county cannot handle this project.

There is no way a hotel needs to be in that location. Commissioners better wake up. You can lose votes over your decisions . I oppose this

I don’t think this is the best use for this property. I also have serious doubts about its viability. The lodge on 44 failed as a hotel, and is now condo rentals, and it was in a MUCH better location. This is what the hotel developer envisions. How do we know that? We know because of his objection to the county stipulation that only a small percentage of rooms may be equipped with kitchens. Finally, I object to the underhanded manner in which our Commissioners have handled this proposal. Decisions were made in support of it before public hearings.

No matter what your stance is on this proposal, the community should expect officials to manage and minimize the impact of any large-scale development on it’s residents. I am personally opposed to this large-scale proposal because it encroaches and imposes on the livelihood of lake residents and extends broadly to all citizens of Putnam. State and County Code of Ordinances are the legal provisions and standards officials refer to when making decisions for their community. Therefore I support and expect our officials to refer to and rely on legal ordinances to base a decision (including applying conditions) on any large-scale development that affects all residents.
