That property should remain single family.

This would create too much traffic on the cove, and should not be allowed.

The intersection of Collis Road and Wards Chapel is already a dangerous intersection with a blind hill to turn onto Collis Road. Not knowing what hotel chain is backing the project is suspect. If everything is above board, transparency should be easy.

As a frequent visitor of this area of Lake Oconee, I am concerned about the traffic this development would bring to the cove. The cove is the perfect size for single family residents but would be quite small for use by a hotel with many visitors. I oppose this rezoning because I do not think it is a safe decision for the families who currently live in this cove or for families who would visit a hotel in this cove.

I live in a sub-division within a couple of miles of the proposed location and also feel the creation of such a facility would be detrimental to our area of single family homes and devalue our property both in the short and long term. It would also create a quality of life issue for all surrounding neighborhoods.

My wife's family have been residents directly across from the proposed development for 25 years. As a father to small children, I am concerned this rezoning will cause unsafe lake traffic in the small cove.

The developer of this has not even been able to complete building his own home in over 3 years. I am personally afraid this project will fail and/or turn into low income hotel/housing. Outside of the summer months, the Ritz occupancy is down significantly and they have the backing of the Ritz Carlton name to keep the business going. The developer can’t even tell us what major hotel is involved with this if any. The sheer lack of information the developer has given us indicates to me that he is going to do whatever he wants with this land and put anything there regardless of the impact on the residents or the land. I oppose this project.

The planning commission should take into account that this hotel would be 400 feet from a residential home. This is not acceptable for the residents. Please vote this down.

We just purchased 187 Capps Lane and are terribly disappointed in learning the property across the cove from us is being looked at to be rezoned for commercial use. We bought our home to retire here. If a hotel or condos are built only 450 feet from our property, it will definitely impact the quality of life we had envisioned for ourselves at Lake Oconee. We were under the impression that Lake Oconee had planning and zoning conditions and can’t believe this would be a plan the commission would pass. We highly encourage the commissioners to vote this request down. We would not be against homes being built across the cove. That seems to go along with the residential feel of the area. A hotel or condo development would not fit in with the residential area surrounding the property. We hope you can put yourself in the shoes of the immediate neighbors surrounding the area and ask yourself if you would want this development in your neighborhood. I am just crushed thinking about this possibility. If this has something to do with making money by the property owners, please rethink where this hotel could be located. This is not the place for this development.

The approval needs to be with conditions!

I just purchase a home (187 Capps Lane) directly across from this land. I was just made aware of the zoning request & without conditions they do not have to stay with their proposed plan, the can build a marina, townhomes. The ambiance of the cove will be gone. I don’t mind homes across the cove but a marina? There are many other ways to drive revenue for Putnam county

Rezoning to anything other than the current single family or agricultural classification will be a detriment to the community. For the past 25 years, I have grown up at my family’s residence directly across the cove from the proposed rezoning area. Changing to multi family classification will destroy the quiet, family oriented feel of the cove, and it will bring dangerous boating congestion and traffic in the narrow cove. I oppose the rezoning.
