There have been too many lives lost in this tragic way. A lifeguard is a small price to pay for the safety of those who use the beach.

I've read many of these comments & strongly agree of the benefits that a single lifeguard, a buoyed section & recommended use of life jackets would bring to the Boundary beach area. It doesn't guarantee the absence of tragedy, but it provides a higher standard of protection for anyone enjoying the park. Someone else mentioned the fee to enter ($5) & I urge this fee to cover the cost of a summer daytime guard.

This has been happening for decades. The simple move of putting a lifeguard on duty might save a life. And one life alone makes it worthwhile. In the meantime, put up some damn boundary buoys.

the people against this petition would say that lifeguards don't work at lakes and dams. well why don't we change that and stop the drownings of young children. yes he was out way too far but that would have been stopped by a lifeguard on duty. I sign this petition to stop the drownings and to hire lifeguards at The Boundary Dam Beach.

I agree boundary damn could use a couple life gaurds, along with that parents etc should still be watching there child and not be to far away as there are drop offs in this water. As well life jackets are a huge saviour and should be worn when swimming in the water. It'd sad it had to come to a little boy's life for things to begin to change . Prayers are with his family !

People from the area know about undertow, but people that are not have know idea. There should be signs of warning or a life guard on duty.

There has been more than one death at this Dam and now with more people going there because of available camping there is no reason why we can't have a lifeguard out there. I'm sure something as simple as Souris Valley Aquatic and leisure centre could cycle their Lifeguards on a rotation out at the Dam.

Hire enough employees to have 2 lifeguards on duty for daylight hours. Charge at the gate for a swimming pass (wrist band perhaps). Seasonal campers could get a family pass for the season and still put on a new band each day. The lifeguards need to be paid. Safety is expensive. There's no reason why users can't pay for their recreation. My heartfelt condolences to the little boy & his family and thanks to all who were a part of the search & recovery. This was a tragic incident & we ALL need to learn from it.

I think there should be one, you pay to get in to a park they should be putting that towards a life guard.

Swimming at boundary has always been dangerous. It was closed at one time because of the undertow from the spillway across from the beach. Way to many drownings young and old. I question having this swim area open without at least one life guard.
