We have owned property in Sarasota for over 30 years. We arrived when Clarke Road still was 2 lanes (80's) and Cady's Grove was the go to place for oranges. We fast forward and watch the eyesore Daquari Deck go up on stilts on Stickney Point Rd ---the only perk is that there is valet parking for other restaurants in the area. (Wondered who was being paid off in City Hall??) It is an abomination right at the entry to "The Most Beautiful Beach in North America". I realize that we cannot stop progress. BUT we can at least offer a DESIGN that will honour the legacy of Siesta Key Beach.
While we speak of abominations to the lovely city of Sarasota, we consider "The Vue"---right on the sidewalk. Drainage on 41 in that area a real issue--probably concrete lining the sewers from careless work crews. EYESORE. Could have been designed so differently.
2 points:
1. To even consider building a high density project on the corner of 41 & Stickney is INSANE. Who has not faced the EXISTING gridlock in season at that intersection??? People are moving off the beach just to avoid the traffic.
2. City must be desperate for property tax income...there must be another way. it makes no logical sense.
Do not desecrate the city more than it has been. DO THE RIGHT THING.
You will drive tourists away with this insanity.

That intersection is already a nightmare especially to go to Siesta peopler sitting in the middle of the intersection from all ways with nobody being able to move.

This projects density is too high for the location. The amount of additional traffic can not be handled with the proposed changes to infrastructure.

I live in the neighborhood, we are already impacted by traffic. This proposed development exceeds the density and intensity the intersection can absorb. And, Benderson falsely represented the density of units residential, hotel, commercial on the property on television.

I moved here from Los Angeles 8 years ago to get away from exactly what Benderson Development is planning on doing at the corner of 41 & Stickney Point. I can't believe I came to a beautiful, quiet community to have it turn into a monster only 8 years later. Siesta Key is already difficult to deal with. I know, I recently sold my home and move off the Key for that very reason (TOO MUCH TRAFFIC)! Please reconsider the size and scope of this development before it becomes another nightmare like L.A. with over population, congestion and pollution!

Traffic is already egregious at that intersection. Why add fuel to the fire?

Should be made into green space, park. We sure don’t need anything that would create more traffic!

The intersection is subject to long delays as it is. The proposed usage would make it altogether impossible.

This is going to make life in and around 41 & Stickney Point/Clark very problematic. Traffic is already awful and the density planned is WAY OVERBOARD! HELP, COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN!

Citizens need to take actions ! Over-development will affect our quality of life. We are already suffering the consequences of red tide because there is no control over fertilizers and pollutants that go into to our water bodies. Responsible County Commissioners have think about our future generations.
This is a major detriment to the entire area.
