Block Benderson’s Siesta Promenade Overdevelopment

I understand that Benderson has a right to develope the land, but I don’t understand how he is entitled to all the variances.

This by far is not the proper use for that land. I have seen Benderson turn many strip malls into ghost towns and land to ruin , traffic nightmares, taxpayers get stuck with the failures or abandoned properties. Inflated employment numbers

I can't even imagine the hardship this would be on the small businesses, residents and beach goers. The traffic is so congested as it is. Please reconsider this!

The traffic is already horrendous and this will only add even more congestion, pollution and issues with the area.

I am very opposed to this. The traffics on stickney point during beach hours is already a nightmare with out us adding more stoplights and shopping on that corner.

The traffic is already dangerous at this corner. I would never reply crossing 41 there as a pedestrian yet people do and I have seen people come close to being hit.

Dear County Commissioners: I am writing to express my objections to the application on the Siesta Promenade. Ideally the application should be rejected outright. It will diminish the Quality of Life and Public Safety for the thousands of citizens in the immediate region bordering the Rt. 41/Stickney Point intersection as well as significantly interfere with traffic headed to Siesta Key. The proposed density of the project is beyond absurd. On its face it will cause such significant congestion that on a frequent basis traffic in all directions will be at a standstill in season and at other times as well. As you are aware, this situation occurs now, let alone with an additional 20 units/acre on the northwest corner: 414 condominiums/apartments, a hotel and 140,000 square feet of retail/office space. Routing the thousands of additional cars through the local community and back onto Rt. 41 only intensifies the congestion of the intersection and it devastates the local community through which the traffic is directed. The reality is that FDOT has designated the intersection as Class F. According to FDOT, the accident rates at this intersection are already at an unacceptable level: this increased density will only exacerbate an already unacceptable situation. The developer acknowledges that the current situation is bad yet maintains that adding the traffic this development will generate and adding a traffic light on Stickney Point Road won’t make it worse. Further the density creates an environmental disaster ‐‐ eliminating practically 25 acres of “green space and trees” and replacing them with high rise buildings that dwarf the pleasant, long standing community to the north and west. Clearly “new” shouldn’t be permitted to wreak havoc on the existing neighborhood. The time for the proposed type development at this intersection has long since passed. Too much traffic already! No tall buidling on that corner. Congestion and pollution is ruining the area.

Leave Siesta alone.

We don’t need any more congestion at that intersection. That is the central Siesta Key road and it will ruin our ability to go there and ruin restaurants and businesses in the area. Stop it NOW. No one wants it.

It's time to stop development in the area. In season, it is nearly impossible to get to Siesta Key as it is. Leave it natural.

Siesta Key is already over crowded and has been along it’s appeal. I understand the need for a hotel but please take the density into consideration and maintain our casual, low key lifestyle. We do not want or need another Naples or Miami!

Please put your constituents who live with the nightmare of traffic, delays, accidents and ...yes...road rage, over the interests of yet another developer who does not have to live in this misery daily. We are people, neighbors, commuters and tax-payers. We deserve to enjoy our properties and happiness. The Red Tide has already made life on and near SK unbearable. Why add to the over consumption of natural resources? Why add to the emissions from thousands of cars jammed onto a road not meant for thousands of cars? Why jeopardize the safety and livelihood of our neighborhoods? This plan will destroy all the things we have come to love about Siesta and it's surrounding neighborhoods.
