In the current climate any initiative is to be applauded, especially something community art oriented. A temporary building is well worth giving a try!

Everything has to start somewhere, from small beginnings and it seems to me the town needs fresh, new ideas that should be encouraged, especially when it’s for the benefit of the town and those that visit, otherwise, what future does it have?
The arts, in whatever form, have been and will always be important, to all ages, but most important to our young people.
Let’s not lose it to the minority who are too small minded to realise it.

What a brilliant idea for this area of town , its not within plain view of town or passersby so surely can't insist anyones eyes that doesnt want to see it !
I gives a very much needed extra dimension to a very arty end of town.

Kate, I support the idea and think it should be expanded to provide temporary art studios for local artists. I'd like to know more about the commitment from the landowner and details of your plan, including the finance available.

This sounds perfect to me. I've lived in Blandford for 18 months and have struggled severely to integrate into the community. I love art and expressing myself creatively, to be able to do this easily in a space with others would be a wonderful experience. Art is usually so isolating, this is a fantastic oppo6to bring like minded people together to share something wonderful. It will be a fantastic asset to Blandford's community and I so very much hope it can be completed.

I believe projects like this are needed in Blandford to bring diversity and other interests in town.
I have many friend living in the area most with families, but they won’t come and support their town saying there is nothing to do. I won’t use the words I’ve heard many times describing lack of interesting projects around our town. It’s worth giving this project a chance especially as, if not satisfying it can be removed. Shame Blandford is being subject to jokes there are only charity shops, barbers and estate agents around. Please let something else happen here and give people other opportunities. Be open mined and see it as a chance to bring Comunity together and more people to town. Thank you

Blandford needs a place like this for artistically inclined children and young adults. The music school is great but this sounds a bit more welcoming to all

Agree with many of the comments above. The project needs to be given a chance to succeed - and the area needs to be given a chance to continue looking far better than it has looked for the last ten years at least and longer, having previously been covered in brambles (full of litter), then with rubble and barriers blocking the path. With a temporary permission for three years it certainly cannot be any worse under its new management.

Excellent idea - and a pilot project will demonstrate its worth (and if not, it will disappear without a trace) Good Luck!
