The people of McDowell County deserve to have something positive in the area and Berwind Lake is one of those things for families.

I should be living in our family homeplace near Blair now. However, it was sacrificed for MTR on Blair Mountain in Logan Co. The coal counties have sacrificed enough for West Virginia - our homes, our land, and our people. Please leave Berwind Lake in McDowell Co. alone and let it remain a recreational area.

For years the mines made rivers black, killed me, NO MORE COAL, per Obama!
Logging the beautiful mountains, now your taking our lake, what will WEST VIRGINIA get in return, oh yes as always NOTHING, how about fixing the roads so transportation can come in and creative jobs????

I am a former McDowelll resident and I am against switching The Berwind Lake to Wildlife Management. Berwind Lake is part of our history growing up in WV, and we still enjoy going to Berwind Lake for family and school reunions. Please reconsider taking away part of our history of McDowell County at Berwind Lake.

McDowell County provided the state of West Virginia with rich coal supplies for years with little or nothing returned to the people who mined it or their family and neighbors. Please don't reduce the opportunities that the citizens, children, churches, schools, and civic groups have at Berwind Lake. Rather than diminish funding, it should be further developed with cabins, a lodge, a restaurant, a gift shop, and more.

Please seeing that wv. residents are already suffering enough because of the coal minning jobs being lost! PLEASE TRY AND KEEP THE PARK OPENED! Because it means a LOT to the people in this area because there isn't much for the people and their Children to do in this area anyway ! Thanks and We would APRECIATE it Very Much..

Please do not cut funding for Berwind Lake. The people of surrounding communities need this Park. They have no other recreation.

Berwind Lake is such an asset to McDowell. It needs to be there for future generations. The pool is one of the things people have for enjoyment in the summer. I live in NC now, but always visit the lake when I visit WV. It was one of the things my Mom was so proud of. She bragged about it's beauty. Such a wonderful, peaceful place to sit and relax. Good luck to all the good folks that are trying to preserve it.
