My Dad worked at Berwind Lake for over thirty years. He retired from there. He dearly loved it. So does the rest of my family. It's a beautiful place that is loved by everyone that grew up in War and surrounding area. It's all that we have. Please don't take it away

Pleaze don't take away the recreation areas of Berwind Lake! The current residents and those who grew up in the area deserve better representation. McDowell County and especially the War area have experienced some of the most hardship of modern times. Don't put salt in the wounds by further reducing the recreational activities to the residents and those who have fawn memories of our beautiful oasis in the mountains. I was a life guard at the Berwind Lake Pool for three years while in college. My time at the pool has been an experience that has stayed with me my entire life. It was my first job that came with a weekly check. I learned valuable skill sets from working with Julian (Superintendent) and his right hand man, Logan on other projects outside of being a Lifeguard. I recall several people that came to me many years later and shared memories of their time at the pool how much it enriched their childhood memories. There were many childern and a few adults that took private swimming lessons and the countless trips of the War Summer Playground kids attending. I am sure the decision makers can take a second look at the budget cuts and development a creative solution that will not handicap the community further. Thank you for considering our plea to save the funding for Berwind Lake recreation areas and enable current and future generations to share in similar memories.

We are not dead! We have children,the elderly and parents who enjoy Berwind Lake. Do take it all away .fire one of the county officials that do nothing and use that money to maintain the facilities!

McDowell County coal helped make WV great and tax revenue helped carry the state for a 100 years. Don't close the jewel and pride of the residents. People coming back to their birthplace always visit the lake with fond memories.

Although now that i moved away from McDowell County to Hickory NC. I visit the lake every time in the area. My emotional attachment of memories from days gone by are relived every time to Berwind Lake.

This is the only recreation the southern part of WVA has. It is an absolute disgrace that you are not supporting this natural resource. You should be advertising and bringing in more tourist to this beautiful lake.

Berwind Lake has been an enjoyable spot for years. My grandfather fished up there with his buddies (all in their 80s). Everything has been stripped from this area that we,( who were born & raised there) remember. I am hoping that money will be found to keep everything open for the residents as well as returning visitors.

Berwind lake has a lot of memory and history to my family and please keep family and the kids in mind because that where everyone goes to in the summer for family reunion and hang out with friends I really would hate to see such a beautiful place not open no more Just please take a second a think how long the lake has been there and how many families go and have fun with other family and kids play some maybe camp but it y'all decided but just think please that's all I asked

McDowell County isn't blessed with many real recreation areas, and Berwind Lake is, perhaps, the nicest one remaining. Please don't allow it to begin down the slope of neglect and degradation. Thank you

Please reconsider this decision it is just about all McDowell has left, it is our home town and when we go to visit that is where we always go is Berwin Lake. Please reconsider.
