Berwind Lake is one of the most Beautiful Spots in McDowell County and these areas are few and far between. It is one of the only places for the area residents to enjoy a swimming pool, sheltering a gathering, restrooms, fishing and walking paths through the beautiful woods. Most people that have resided in this area have visited this lake. The children who have been located in the Big Creek District have had their senior photographs taken here for years. This, an area with such struggles and no place to entertain children or adults why would this location be taken from the people? Our historic school (Big Creek High) is gone, the lake is the last and only beautiful and nice public place for all to enjoy. For one time can't the government think of the people of this area and the ones who have left that come back to visit? It is always take, take, take. We need some intervention with infrastructure and building the communities with sustainable livelihoods to replace the long gone mining business as we all know it has been made irrelevant. The people need the lake as a place to enjoy, anyone who lives in or visits this area know that there is little for the people. Please, take time to think of the people of this area. Thank you for your time in advance.

If this the pool would shut down our teenagers would have no place to go for the summer months . That would just give them more idle time that they don't need .We really need more things for our young people but we have just had to accept what we had and now that is being taken away . please protect our little park..

I understand that people will still be able to hunt and fish at Berwind lake but not everyone can/ do hunt and/ or fish. People of all ages use the lake for many different activities. I myself am a photographer and I shoot the biggest part of my photos of people and scenery at Bereinf Lake because it is such a beautiful place. I have attended many different events there even down to funeral/memorial services. I have so many wonderful memories of that place starting from the time I was a small child up until the present and I Love the lake and I know lots and lots of people feel the same way as I do, so I stand with my county and district of people as well as many others that stand with us to fight to keep our pool, lake superintendent, labors, camp grounds, and everything that we have at Berwind Lake. I am encouraging everyone near and far to please stand with us.

Berwind Lake is one of the few bright spots in Big Creek District and McDowell County. Funding cuts will only add to the already bleak future for our citizens! With the declining coal business I think tourism is our next best hope. Please reconsider your decision and help us preserve one of the the most beautiful places on Earth.

That's the only local thing that the children there have to look forward to. If you take this away many parents aren't going to drive them an hour or so away just to take them to a pool, to go fishing or just to have a picnic. Please consider all other options or ideas on ways to save the state money. Thank you for your time.
