I believe the lake should remain how it's been for years ! It's the only thing in the community to where families can go and spend time together and get away . It's where people go to just get away and think !

I can't stress the importance of keeping the facilities at Berwind Lake available for public use enough. McDowell County has looked to this lake for decades to provide a safe place for family reunions, birthday parties, and other gatherings, not to mention a place for children to go to stay out of trouble in the summer months when the rate of drug use and drug related death is skyrocketing out of control. There isn't much left in McDowell, the cut backs from a financial stand point may seem feasible, but to the local residents, you're taking away much more than money can buy.

McDowell County doesn't have a lot in it to offer our younger generation to do for recreational activities , the one thing it did have for the children was the swimming pool to play in during the summer and the camp grounds for the entire family to enjoy for picnics and reunions and a clean place to go where that there was no drinking aloud and a fun place to fish and play to help keep the kids off the streets and away from the drug pushers

We need to keep Berwind Lake funded as a state park. So many of us who have had to leave to find jobs look on the lake as our home away from home. Generations have celebrated birthdays, reunions, and family time there.

Please support keeping Berwind Lake. This county has made so much money in the past from coal taxes and it seems the money was always taken and not used here. It seems we have always been treated as the stepchildren of this state.
