Rcut solution will make other entrances up the road onto 460 more dangerous as drivers will make u turns at Coal Bank exit or up the 460 corridor where it is impossible to see oncoming cars. You will only move the accidents up 460.

pushing more traffic down North Main toward downtown will make it more dangerous for everyone (pedestrians, bicycles and cars) that use North Main. It can't support all of the traffic that typically routes down 460 bypass

Turnaround on 460 (current plan) is a terrible idea. More housing being built nearby.

I was raised on Farmingdale Ln. and travel the 460 bypass to visit family who still live there and family that live in Giles county. I have witnessed several accidents at this intersection over the years. I have actually had to appear in court on one occasion as a witness to an accident that occurred there. It scares me to death to have to turn off the bypass on to Farmingdale. I pretty much hold my breath when turning. It feel that something has got to be done asap. It's way overdue.

VDOT and the Town of Blacksburg are both culpable in creating this debacle. Traffic volume have increased steadily over the years. Woodbine, Country Side, Wyatt Farm, Maple Ridge and two large Churches (soon to be three) and the latest North Main subdivision (under construction). Where is the planning effort?? Both the town and VDOT were approached in 2002 requesting safety improvements at this intersection. Lack of funding was sited as the as the primary deterrent. So here we are 14-years later waiting for action. I believe the CTB needs to come to Blacksburg and experience the intersection for themselves. As a business owner on Farmingdale Lane, I'll be more than happy to accommodate any member of the CBT with a truck and horse trailer to show everyone how the R-Cut will work for this small farming community. Perhaps we can use a school bus instead. Ever further, block the north bound lane of main street for a week to see the impact of rerouted MOOG and VT traffic. The citizens that depend on this intersection are trying to prevent a heinous mistake and the CBT is not listening. Spend our tax funds wisely and develop a plan that address the entire north end corridor - Brush Mountain Rd, Bishop Rd, Coal Bank Hollow, Farmingdale and North Main.

The R-cut plan will shift the danger of fatal accidents to the even-more-dangerous intersection at Coal Bank Hollow. Disastrous!

The interchange is essential and necessary. The R-cut plan does not cut it and will not in any way improve the situation.

Very dangerous intersection! North Main still needs access from Rt. 460.

My understanding of the R-cut plan is that it will cause other significant dangerous problems with a short-lane turnaround at Coal Bank Hollow Road for east-bound traffic. The grade separated interchange is the safest for this intersection. The dangers of this intersection are well known and need to be appropriately addressed to resolve this serious problem.

Our area youth use this interchange frequently to get to the Cascades, Pandapas Pond & Mountain Lake. We can protect them much better with a grade separated interchange. Thank you

This area has always been a problem and in some cases a death trap. The R cut is inadequate to address this problem. How many lives have to be affected before people are considered over dollars?

PLEASE RECONSIDER THE VOICE OF BLACKSBURG CITIZENS REGARDING A PROECT THAT WILL IMPACT OUR NORTH MAIN INTERSECTION WITH 460!! It is unsurprising that fellow neighbors have expressed concern with those individuals who are “supposed” to represent our area (Court Rosen and William Fralin). A quick glance at the CTB instantly raises questions about your broad-ability to effectively represent the citizens of Virginia. Your appointed board consists of only 30% women, despite the fact that Virginia is 51% women. Our state is 26% minority, yet your website suggests only 1-minority serves on the board (6%). C’mon! REPRESENT the Citizens of Virginia (us little people who actually pay for stuff). At least make your board look more consistent with the demographics of VA. Let's learn from Mr. Rosen's example; don't let any future backlash from the R-cut project become the initiative that causes your political aspirations to go up in a "puff of smoke".

The proposed R-cut simply moves the issue of safety to a short-lane turnaround at Coal Bank Hollow Road for east-bound traffic. As a result, there will be an increased safety issue as both turnaround and CBH traffic vie for the same crossover site. VDOT needs to assess this increase in danger and explain to the public how their plan enhances safety.

The R-cut plan is unacceptable and does not solve the safety issues surrounding the intersection. Thank you.

Why do elected and appointed government officials continue to ignore the input from their constituents?

The R-cut plan is not a solution. It is a bandaid that will simply waste tax dollars without solving the fundamental problem. If VDOT opposes a grade separated interchange then they need to suggest an alternative solution that is as good or better. I suspect VDOT is playing politics here.

Agree with many comments already posted. The R-cut just does not improve the safety around this segment of US460. The U-turn option is no improvement over the current situation.

The R-cut option is unacceptable - it simply spreads the risk of accidents further west on U.S. 460 bypass, and does nothing to plan for the growth in traffic in the north end of Blacksburg.

The R-cut plan takes a microscopic look at how to improve safety at this intersection. It fails to look at the overall effects of how driving habits will change. In some cases, it will actually shift driving habits to the even more dangerous intersection of Coal Bank Hollow & Rt 460 for the residents of the Bishop Rd area of Mt. Tabor Rd.
