We cannot allow u-turns on Brush Mountain. Anyone who visits the site will realize that option is out of the question.

I live on the north side of town and turn left all the time onto 460E, as apparently do quite a lot of others. Sending that much traffic though dense housing areas, or even worse, through U-turns on a highway on or near a low visibility downhill stretch is unconscionable. Unilaterally spending 3.5 million dollars to make this increasingly traveled intersection virtually unusable to half the traffic while making overall surrounding traffic situation way more dangerous--this is absolutely negligent!

I use this intersection multiple times everyday and believe a grade separated interchange is the only reasonable solution.

I lived in Blacksburg, VA for 9 years while taking classes and later working at the University. In that time, my horses were boarded on a farm down Farmingdale Lane. I can't express to you enough the changes that need to be made to this intersection. This is not a typical 4 lane interchange. There is an almost blind turn where cars and trucks come flying around on the 460E bound side. Even if they are going the posted 55mph, a truck would be hard pressed to see a car coming out of that lane and have time to stop safely. This also creates a very dangerous exchange for those trying to turn in to Farmingdale Lane. Drivers have to sit in the middle receiving area before gunning over quickly to their destination. I cannot believe this plan has been downgraded back to original design. I always think of Blacksburg as a community looking out for the well being of all its residents. This decision by VDOT tells me differently. The cost saved in downgrading this plan is not worth even one individual's life, and that is what will happen if this not done properly this first time. Please reconsider your decision, and help us keep the Blacksburg residents safe in their travels.

Accept Blacksburg’s official withdrawal of the 2015 #495 R-cut plan. Score Blacksburg’s 2016 #1251 interchange application.
