The arts should not only be accessible to the economically privileged. The Strand is a space with much promise that is going underutilized, and a black box theatre would greatly increase the variety of ways this space could be used. Boston is too gentrified as it is, and those who live in Dorchester now deserve to reap the benefits of spaces like The Strand!

It's so important for there to be accessible, local, high-quality theatre available, especially in our lower-income neighborhoods. Theatre should not just be for the people who can afford $40 tickets, or for the people who can afford extremely expensive space rentals.

We've lost theatre companies in the past few years. We lost the Factory Theatre to luxury condos. This is one of the best, most practical, and easy to implement ideas I've seen, and I'm all for it.
