This petition is a part of a nonviolent movement, protesting the lack of required Bible classes dealing with issues of race, ethnicity, cultural awareness, and social justice for undergraduate students at Biola University. These topics are found throughout the Bible as well as Jesus' ministry. A lack of knowledge and understanding of these types of issues leads to miscommunication and disunity on Biola's campus and in the body of Christ. Through this movement, we are working for a more racially and culturally diverse, unified community at Biola.

This petition will be presented to the Provost of Biola University, David Nystrom on Monday morning with the intention of showing the support from within Biola's community for Bible classes that educate students about how to engage ideas and issues of race, culture, and justice with respect and intelligence.

Updates

May 11, 2014

The momentum behind this movement proves that the student body is finished waiting for the administration to act. David Nystrom and the leadership at Biola can no longer ignore the demand for a curriculum that actually reflects the justice taught in scripture.

The bible is full of stuff about loving your neighbor and justice. Why are we acting like this is controversial? Make it happen.
