We were I involuntarily displaced in July. Actively looking for housing since May. Still nothing and no community resources to count on helping. It's hopeless

I am a home owner with a rental and I am appalled at the recent increase in rent because of the lack of availability due to people renting short term to tourist with airbnb etc

My family waited 5 years for this opportunity of being approved for a county housing voucher. We have 60 days to find an approved unit of which has been unsuccessful. There is a lack of housing available and county housing are approving vouchers in excess of rental availability. This is wrong! Check the newspaper ads, rental agencies, and legit Craigslist ads...not much added up compared to the amount of people being approved and fighting for a place before it expires.

We have lived here a little over a year, and now the owner wants to sell. It is so hard to find reasonable rentals in our area, or finding any at all. We really do not want to go back to the mainland. :(

My family and I are homeless. And i NEVER make requirements and IF I do, can't afford the rent.

Just moved here from Maui. Well, I say move but honestly we're living out of a hotel with our dog so we're not living at all. We've been here for almost a month now and can not find a place that will take our dog within our budget ($2000 so we're not talking cheap here)
We moved last minute from Maui as our job closed down there, yet still we've been here a month with no home.
Please make this happen soon.

There are plenty of people who are working who can't afford housing here. There are too few places that provide low income housing in kona.

My wife and I wanted to retire Big Island. Rentals are way to much money. More money than a house payment how can I afford to look for a place. I can't afford to rent a house to start looking for a permanent residence to purchase

The rental market is absolutely out of control. Barely anything available and the few rentals out there are extremely over priced. Also rarely can you bring your pet. Just not a good situation at all....

Not sure what the solution is. Some say the answer is to buy a house of your own. Pretty hard to save money for that when your rent is astronomical.

I'm disappointed with the way rental agencies and landlords can ask for a 20, 30, 40, 50, or even a 75 dollar nonrefundable application fee. I mean really? Plus you times that 20 applicants. You do the math. Yet they can let all these foreclosed houses just sit there and rot.

My rent has been raised 3 times in one year in $20 increments, I am on SSDI therefore on a fixed income, I rent a room and starting in November I will be paying $475 and this place has a really bad ant and roach problem told owner numerous of times but when I call him to complain about something he says he's trying and hangs up on me, we do have resident managers but their the one that break many rules like having pets they have 3 dogs outside and one dog they keep inside they have parakeets that they keep in the washroom and are very very noisy they have their kids here everyday who are all adults they wash clothes here which the washing machine only had cold water so I need to go to the laundrymat every week her kids fill up their water here because they live in Kingslanding they take a bath here and smoke marijuana along with the father the manager here, I clean everyday because this place is very filthy and all the haole residents walk in and out the house with their footwear and and have been told many times but its good for a couple days then it's back to walking in and out the house with their shoes on, I complain to the resident manager she tells me to call the owner they have personal problems to take of you call the owner he says to tell the manager no body wants to deal with anything so I deal with them on my own.
