Despite numbering in the thousands, commuter parking is scarce and inconvenient. Unacceptable for a University that can afford to build revolutionary new science centers but can't drop 10% to pave a god damn lot and paint it with lines. Or, drop 50% and build a parking structure.

As a commuter, this is something I am very passionate about

Especially being a commuter student it has been especially difficult to not only find parking but, never really explained the bus systen used for the commuter lots, where to pick up my parking pass, and the hours of the building its located in, now they are ticketing on Monday and the building is closed so i can pick uo my pass which makes no sense.

Its unbelievably hard to get parking if you don't get up incredibly early and it fills up in an INSTANT.

Totally agree with this. I’ve gotten ticketed so many times because parking is so limited and I barley have enough to pay them off and I have a permit.

For the first half of the semester, I had to get to the university by 9:20 or else parking would completely fill up.

The parking on campus and in town is a complete scam—students need a place to park. Commuter or not, the fact that parking is a risky, expensive game (and that’s how the university and borough treat it—like a game) is ridiculous. People aren’t paying thousands in tuition to be ticketed by the parasitic parking authority.

Things are really getting ridiculous! You can’t get a break in this town!

Students shouldn’t be late for class just trying to park when they’re commuters and have no where else to go. I had to arrive two hours early to campus to secure parking last semester!

As a parent, I must say, this seems to be something to take into consideration when choosing schools. I'd rather pay for a parking permit than to have students harassed while trying to get an education. This needs to be addressed ASAP.

Parking tickets are A bigger money maker for West Chester Borough than anything else. It’s disgraceful. And didn’t a Magistrate get caught skimming money? The whole thing is a crime. The poor students at The University are sitting ducks. There is no parking and then they are told to switch sides of the street at dawn so the streets can be cleaned which they rarely are. It’s a corrupt system and needs to be cleaned up and made fair.

Students already pay a very high premium for their education, and they should not be further exploited as a revenue stream for the university/borough. Instead of using a punitive system, provide small tuition reimbursements to students who prove that they do not use a car on campus. This will encourage students not to drive, and will look great from both a parking and sustainability perspective. I think the case could also be made that charging a flat fee for parking permits/tickets adversely affects students from lower income brackets, and impedes their ability to learn. WCU and the Borough of West Chester would show great insight if they could be the first to figure out how to do parking in a way that absolutely every end-user doesn't completely hate.

I get everywhere has parking issues, but being a passed resident, it’s seriously such an issue. It’s as if the borough does not give a sh*t at all.
