Better Hours for Little Blue Canyon Project

Please extend the open hours for route 50 during the construction. I just bought property on Arrowhead in Sept. 2020 and was not expecting this!!

There also needs to be a bypass opening fir Arrowhead Residents and those who live around Blue Mesa Summit.

We are summer residents in Arrowhead Ranch and this will greatly affect our travels in and out of the subdivision.

Many businesses depend on this road. Highway 92 would not be a good option.

There is no good time to get this done, but during a pandemic is one of the worst. Why not delay for a couple of years?

I think it is funny that CDOT wants you to take a more dangerous road than the little bit of canyon they are fixing. This canyon will always be dangerous because people drive recklessly. The Alpine Plateau is my driveway. I own Arrowhead Mountain Lodge and a full-time Arrowhead community resident. I am often at that intersection, and more times than not, I see cars illegally passing another vehicle on the double yellow. This behavior is typical on HWY 50, and that is why I believe that CDOT’s plan to make the little blue canyon safer will do the opposite. CDOT’s plan to widen the road, lessening a blind corner, and banking the horseshoe turn, in my opinion, will encourage more speeding and reckless driving decisions. When I first heard the plan, I was surprised that eliminating the horseshoe-turn was not part of it. During the time highway-engineers were assessing what to do about Little Blue, the rumors at the Lodge was that the best thing for Little Blue Canyon was to redirect the highway. Eliminate the curves and the horseshoe-turn. This canyon is no joke, and I agree the Little Blue Canyon needs some love. The road itself needs to be re-paved and is long overdue for rock scaling, the curves are gnarly, and the drop off into the canyon is deadly. Widening the road might help the curves some and lessen your chance of going into the canyon. The opportunity is still significant that someone will mess up on the horseshoe-turn or go too fast on the less-of-a-blind curves and end up at the bottom of the canyon. Why take an option that makes the road 25% safer when there is an option that will eliminate the real problems, the curves. The cost, of course! I wish those who make the decisions realize that it is never acceptable to cheap out. Every time I cheap out, I spend more money than If I have chosen the best plan. I get it. This fix will make the road more dangerous. And it is crazy CDOT thinks Hwy 92 is a good alternative route. Please compare Hwy 92 versus the bit of canyon they want to fix. Which looks more technical and dangerous?

This puts a strain on sports programs such aa the Volleyball season where teams travel thru Montrose to get to Gunnison.

Not extending open traffic hours will be a burden to so many and in so many ways!!

right now commerce needs our help and this will shut off more ability - please keep the road open, put a slower speed up!

Please add more hours for the road to be open. Agriculture, residents of the area, tourism, businesses, and more need the additional access.

They need to work 24 hours a day!

It is wrong for the state to keep us from our homes and property!

We need the road open more hrs. Our economy will be hurting if we can’t move livestock to Eastern Colorado. We need tourism and a road for emergency’s.

We need the hwy opened more hours because of agriculture, tourism and medical emergency. This is our livelihood for Western Colorado. Thank you.

Do the work, but keep the hiway open. You can do both. Think of the tourism.

I drive that road multiple times a week to deliver wood for my job from Montrose to Gunnison and Crested Butte this would devastate our business

Please listen to the input of people and change the scope of this work. There has to be a better way.
