I don't think they should do the project as planned, either option 1 or 2, at all. They should either just take down the one worst rock outcropping or start over by getting out of the canyon all together and go up and over to windy point and build a bridge. This way traffic would be minimally effected

The road closure schedule is a nightmare for those who HAVE TO travel between Gunnison and Montrose. Medical care in Gunnison requires travel to Montrose and Grand Junction frequently for many!

We deliver material to the Gunnison, Crested Butte area approx 3 times a week. The option we have discussed is going less often with more deliveries which will cause delays in getting material to the project in a timely manner

If the hours are not changed it is going to create a lot of extra time for our delivery trucks to go around over black mesa. as well as the added danger of all the extra traffic on that road.

I would still think a whole new route from the top of Blue Mesa Summit heading North around the east side of Fitzpatrick Mesa and then over The Little Blue via a new bridge is the only rational way to do this.

CDOT's proposed design fails to address the root problem: there isn't room in the canyon for a decent roadway. The road should be re-routed above Blue Creek Canyon, departing the existing alignment at the top of the Blue, and holding about that elevation as it follows around the west shoulder of Blue Creek Canyon, and then crossing the Canyon on a high bridge to rejoin the existing alignment in the vicinity of the old CDOT maintenance facility. This would greatly reduce traffic hazards, especially when the road in the canyon is icy in the winter.

The Colorado Cattlemen's Association is concerned about wait times for trucks and trailers hauling livestock. A solution needs to be developed whereby these vehicles have determined times throughout the day to travel back and forth and be promoted to first in line service outside of those waiting periods. Animals can not stand on trucks for long if those trucks are not moving.

The current plan will significantly impact regional medical care and commerce. The less obtrusive option, although lengthening project, will help alleviate the daily impact.
