I am self employed with a home- based business as a hair stylist. I started my home - based business in 2007 because I have two children that have disabilities and I am married but do not qualify for SSI. My home base business grows slowly compared to alot of home base businesses because I never took out a business loan and depended on the money earned yo grow my business. This year was my first year not earning a tax return. And now that the Corona virus is here, my business came to a complete stop. My husband is the only one working . And I'm not sure how long that will last. I home school both of my sons ( 4th year) and would like to at least have money to support business online ( selling retail) but the government's isn't providing the funds for people like me. So now I do not know what is going to happen. As long as the corona virus is out there and there is social distance, I may lose everything I put into my small salon. My website is www.styleseat.com/soniagholson and you can find me on Instagram at Mood of Serenity Hair and Soa. You can see that I take my small business seriously. It's my only income and compared to most it's not alot. But I want to stay in business when all this is over without losing what I worked hard to build. Please see the comments on my styleseat. Doesn't this count for something?

There are a great many people in our country who are self employed and are called individual contractors who are also out of work at this time and will need financial assistance. Don't leave them out!!

I fall into this category being a sole proprietor in a service related (pet sitting) business. My clients rely on me for cat care when they travel. No travel = no income, period.

Im self employed operating a appliance business for the last five years. Now im in a crisis because of this pandemic. Father and sole provider of 6 kids. Missing alot of sleep not hearing a smigit self employed come up on the stimulus. Im scared that im going to have to put myself at a risk, while everyone else is resting safely. Real nervous about all. Between a hard spot and a rock.

I have a home-based art studio and it is classified by the IRS as a 'hobby' yet this is the only source of our income and are not required to file a tax return, therefore, we are left out of the stimulus package that we desparately need at this time during this pandemic. We were just scraping by the way it was but now we are basically completely cut off and there is nothing else we can do to make up for what has already been lost for us. It is hard enough to make ends meet, living in an impoverished region of our State, but to exclude us and anyone else in similar circumstances as we are in is just wrong on so many levels that it is truly UnAmerican to treat us in this way. My wife and I are Veterans as well.

I just started a house cleaning business. And right after I invested in cleaning products and advertising, this virus hit. Now I don't know how I will survive.

I am a hair stylist . I pay rent on a suite through Sola. The income I make comes directly from my clients . I am unable to work due to the Force Majeure Covid 19. I do not have employees, I do not qualify for unemployment and I was rejected from SBA. Under SB5 , it should have been my decision weather or not to close . Many businesses still do curb side . I could have made clients individual hair color packages that could have been picked up directly from me at my studio salon.

I am the owner of a small Main Street store in San Jose. I was mandated by the state to close my store until further notice due to the COVID19 pandemic, but am not being offered any federal assistance. Without help small businesses may never come back leaving a huge hole in America.
The self-employed have been fillIng US government coffers for centuries. It’s time our government stops letting us fall through the cracks of UI.
