Better Economic Stimulus Options For Self-Employed Individuals

I’m a pre-arrangement planner for a funeral home and my clients are generally 60+, so my customer base is staying home and not considering funeral arrangements until they are more comfortable with not putting their health at risk.

I am a selfemployed salon owner with other self employed and are concerned like many how to mainly pay my landlord , I have a pretty high rent an although my landlord is helping me for April I am the only income as well for my household so need serious help as well

I am a dog walker and house sitter. I take care of the two things that many people considered their most prized possessions. It astounds me that during the COVID-19 pandemic how many others like myself are forced into desperation. We need to convey the necessity for more than just a one time stimulus payment. It is great to hear about a $1200 one time payment. The fact of the matter is that would cover my rent. The need to expand unemployment or other benefits to include gig workers is vital. The future of employment is the gig economy and this has been a driving sector of the economy for years. The jobs that have been created in this “booming” economy prior to its collapse from COVID-19 are made up mostly of living wage service jobs that are now closed as well. Our entire economy will be decimated unless we come together and get monthly payments into the pockets on main street. We can’t make America great again if we ignore the very people who helped get it there in the first place.

Sure wish I had the answer... Work, pay taxes, work and pay taxes. I sure hope I can continue the cycle, since there is no safety. Watching the economy crash... No unemployment, no reasonable insurance, no aid... No work = lose everything

Small business matters

I am an independent contractor who works in the executive leadership education industry, one that has been gravely affected by the quarantine because 99% our work consists of face-to-face interaction. When I file my taxes at the end of the year, I pay just as much as any other "employed" individual--the only difference is that the taxes aren't taken out of each invoice I am paid, but rather withheld from any return I would normally get. It is criminal not to include tax-paying workers in the "unemployment on steroids" plan. Please please please make this provision, otherwise allow us to be exempt from income taxes!

I rent a booth to do hair and considered self employed and need financial help!

I have been a successful self-employed "non-essential" business owner who has been ordered to shut down my business. I certainly do understand the importance of this health crises we all are facing. What I don't understand is how this package views self-employed. I (was) "proud" to say that I worked hard as a single mother to create my own business and pay taxes not relying on the government. I feel punished in true times of need. Self-employed seem to be "between the cracks" like health insurance. Rich have the money for the best insurance and the very poor get Medicaid. Then they "finally" discovered ex-tended Medicaid for the working poor. Not knowing how long or even if my business will get back to where it was, leaves me spending my days sending resumes to "essential" business who will provide me with unemployment benefits if needed. And oh, paid vacation, paid sick leave etc. All that those workers seem to benefit from now. Correct me if I am wrong. Did I read too the extra 600 added too to unemployment? Does "Mr. Trump" understand the "small" business people who work hard and contribute to the economy he so gloats about?

This is why we need Universal Basic Income that doesnʻt discriminate whether you work for someone else or work for yourself. I too, am self-employed and do not want to take on any more debt. One hopeful thing Iʻve heard is the small business loans might be "forgiven," meaning no need to pay back. I certainly hope so.

I am a small business owner with no employees. I report as a DBA and don't want to take on more debt, but the only help they're offering people like me is another SBA loan!?

There needs to be stimulus for self employed people beyond loans. We hire other independent contractors in addition to or instead of employees and are being punished for doing so.

Evryone's voice should be heard. One size doesn't fit all.

Self Employed lives matter

I am a self employed contractor with no employees. In fairness there should be a provision for people like us. The law makers and president Trump are quick to pat themselves on the back for the so called stimulus package they put together but they have overlooked the self employed with no employees. Disappointing.

Please help the self employed. They need help like everyone else.
