My daughter is a 49 year old single mom with a high schooler at home. She is also a self-employed realtor who works as many or more hours per week as any salaried employee. She has as much need for financial help as anyone in this time of natural catastrophe.

We didn't ask for this yet we're thrown right in the middle of all this and now on mandatory shut down. The government needs to help the independent contractors with our businesses.

So glad to see this petition. I am a self- employed tv host, model and spokesperson and have had all of my income go away. If I can't make appearances or be on set, I can't generate income. I am relying on family to keep my lights on and purchase food after nearly month of no income. I pray that the government can implement a package that would extend benefits to solopreneurs and independent contractors. thank you for starting this!
Sincerely,
Alison Fiori

Independent contractors should get more stimulus pay being they only get paid if they work there jobs...they don’t get sick time, vacation time, etc.

Federal and state governments need to realize the huge number of self-employed people who are ignored in all of the debate about helping American workers.

I’ve been a full-time caddie at Pebble Beach golf course for 10 years. I’m an independent contractor who works year round but I have to adjust my work load to accommodate a slow down in business during the Winter and early Spring. The Caddie mgmt program and Pebble Beach Resort was just shutdown. I’m now an unemployed Father of 4 living in one of the most expensive regions in the country! Please help. Good luck to all of the other self employed people across the Country. Fingers crossed.

I've been self-employed as a research consultant and tech writer/editor for more than 20 years. I got hit hard in the 2008 recession and am already seeing a work slowdown/projects pushed out indefinitely during this go-round. We the self-employed need relief too. Thanks.

I'm an optometrist working as an independent contractor. I can no longer see routine appointments which made up the majority of my patient base. Although I'm still seeing urgent care, that's by happenstance and not enough to pay the bills. I'm less than 5 years out with TONS of student debt so a loan that I have to pay back eventually is NOT a great option. Please help the self employed!
