Better Economic Stimulus Options For Self-Employed Individuals

I am a self-employed copywriter, freelance writing primarily for the travel/hospitality and health/fitness industries, both of which have been hit especially hard. I have already lost several clients because they can't afford to pay freelance or contract workers right now. I would like to see better options for those of us who are self-employed.

Wife, 20 year old daughter with Down Syndrome, 12 year old daughter & mother-in-law living with us...Health insurance alone is $1,300/month.

I am a real estate professional that needs assistance and support during this time that I cannot serve my community

I work as hard as any employEE of any business out there, barring possibly, law enforcement, fire service, and health professionals, who are always on the front line. Is there any decision maker out there that understands this? The self-employed's contribution to the economy?

I'm 56, a self-employed painter, wallpaper hanger and pet sitter. In 30 years of self-employment, I was okay until the 2008 recession; I tried my best but finally had to file bankruptcy in 2013. Since then, I've never missed a payment of any kind, I've never been late with any payment and I've never paid one cent in credit card interest. I have worked extremely hard to get my credit back on track. However, that bankruptcy won't come off my credit report until 2023 and it prevents me from getting a loan of any kind because my gross income is less than $20K per year. I live paycheck-to-paycheck and I had work scheduled through April. But now, every job has cancelled and I'm left with no income. I don't have savings, stock or a 401k to fall back on. I don't understand why self-employed individuals aren't eligible for unemployment benefits. Had I been eligible in 2008, I could have stayed afloat. Another bankruptcy would take my car and the two credit cards I use (one personal and one business) to get by from month to month. PLEASE HELP by adding self-employed individuals to unemployment benefits.

I have many friends that are self-employed musicians and wait staff. Their jobs have been vaporized. They have absolutely zero opportunity to earn an income. Their families are suffering and they need immediate help, and will need additional resources to get back on their feet. Please acknowledge their important contributions by helping them in this uncertain time.

Where is the relief for the working class? Hairdressers, house cleaners, childcare, fitness instructors, etc...

My family runs a small construction business. We were already struggling with little to no work. Now with this pandemic, there is no work at all and no one has ever thought of helping the self employed in times of crisis. It's about time that we are recognized for helping to build our country and economy.
