I am firmly AGAINST having a referendum. Bring legislation to the House for debate, and avoid the political circus and time wasted that a referendum will bring about.

I believe that the Premier who promised a referendum to us should have never been abandoned, and he and the government should stick to their word

I believe that a referendum on gaming is the right way to "go"

I was disheartened to hear the biased, misleading language used in the referendum question. I was upset to hear that the referendum was cancelled. I am now disturbed that MPs are discussing Gambling as if they have already passed it through the house. Most importantly, I am worried about the societal impact opening gaming up to locals will cause. We do not need more addicts. Listen to your electorate and give us the chance to choose.

I totally agree that we should have a referendum, not only for the gambling issue but for any other major social decision i.e. the marijuana issue next. We should have had it for the gay issue as well - ALL Bermudians should have their say for major decisions/changes facing our country.

No government should ever be able to arbitrarily take power away from the electorate. This is dictatorship in the "test" stages.

I believe a neutrally worded referendum is the best method of determining the voice of the people on this issue. The OBA government has lost a lot of credibility in withdrawing the referendum.
