In gambling there is some good but the bad far outweighs the good. Look at all those who have 'won big' and after a few years the vast majority are in debt and the monies 'invested' to allow them those winnings left the investors worse off as well..

the social and economic ramifications of gaming is a fundamental issue that should be decided by bermuda and her people not jus a select few corrupt politicians.. the only reason i can see the jetgate 3 trying to trample democracy and commit political suicide is to satisfy a back room deal and enrich themselves at the expense of all of us..

A referendum on this highly controversial topic was promised by the government and should be kept - I believe it's called democracy and being trustworthy!

I feel very strongly about all that has been stated. Bermudians should have the full right to decided whether or not they would support gaming in Bermuda!

I do not support gaming but, more importantly, I strongly object to this blatantly anti-democratic stance of our government.

Getting the referendum wording right is crucial. How do people feel about the wording proposed at the end of this petition? Would it be improved by the addition of the words "....at this time?"?

I believe that the precedent being set is scary. That any government in power can; at will, drastically and permenantly alter the socio - economic landscape of our island without the populations consent. It would then stand to reason that in the future we can expect our future leaders to make promises ; before getting elected and then renege on them without impunity once elected. This must not be allowed. We will not give away our voice.
