Whereas Cannabis has been proven to have many positive medical benefits;
and
Whereas Bermuda faces unprecedented budget deficits;
and
Whereas numerous Bermudians are criminalized for non-violent possession for personal use of cannabis;
and
Whereas many countries are revising their cannabis laws;
Whereas we are treaty-bound to only allow cannabis for purposes of research and/or medicinal use;
We the undersigned petition the Honourable House of Assembly to immediately decriminalise cannabis, possession and supply (in a Treaty compliant fashion), and examine the economic and social benefits of cannabis regulation, taxation and sale, as well as sale of anonymised research data, for the benefit of our local economy, social climate and tourism product.
