Please ssupport the Xamar protests against this illegal and desperate attempt by tribal warlords to seize the land of the indigenous people of Benadir and sign the petition. A regional state of their people and only by their people and for their people within the boundaries of their original land of Benadir based on historical documents. (Map attached). Stretching from Jowhar to the Bajuni Islands, inland from the Indian Ocean coast to both banks of the Shabelle River, The indigenous peoples of the Benadir have suffered from historic injustices where their land was dispossessed and their resources looted in the last two decades of civil war and anarchy in the country. Support for the recognition and protection of their land rights is the basis of this petition and campaign. The Benadir people are starting this popular campaign because they are feed up and tired of the continuous attempts to lie about the history of the land of Benadir, endless economical, political and social injustices, living in fear all the time. Hope and solidarity among the Benadiri people has begun. Enough, Enough of “Bililiiqo”. No to the “Bililiiqo” of the name “BENADIR” This signature campaign will be used as a tool for lobbying at national and international levels not only against this illegal attempt by well known tribal warlords to colonize the Benadir, but also to support the fundamental right of the indigenous people of Benadir to keep the land they lived and possessed for centuries and to establish their own regional state. We call on the United Nations, The African Union, the Arab League, other national and international organizations, and all concerned to support our peaceful campaign against this specific attempt by tribal warlords to occupy and seize our land. We further petition the president and the prime minister of the Transitional Government of Somalia, as well as the parliament and its speaker with a formal request to reject, revoke and make null and void this illegal declaration of a so called “Banadir State” We ask other established regional states in Somalia, all decent peace loving Somalis also to help and join us with this just and noble campaign and sign this petition. We also see this initiative and petition as a historical opportunity for the people of the Benadir to work together and unite for the creation of their own regional state. This for sure will strengthen the chance for every Benadiri to live with dignity and without fear in their own neighborhoods in the future. We have seen the declarations of the formation of the “Benadir and Dohway State” and a “Benadir State” both spearheaded by Benadirs. We urge them to unite. How can you be involved?
