The council has agreed that these decisions belong with our schools and families rather than their offices. I am completely overwhelmed by how many of you stepped up to make this happen and I hope you realize that this belongs to you.

The purpose of this petition is to demonstrate to South Ayrshire Council that the people of South Ayrshire want their children and young people to have the best possible start in life.
If you are a pupil in a South Ayrshire school, a parent, guardian or friend of a child or young person and believe that:
"In the absence of national standards for the maximum number of subjects that pupils may be examined for in S4, the number of subjects available at Belmont Academy should be decided by the school in consultation with learners and parents and not dictated (or limited) by South Ayrshire council, as this will potentially disadvantage South Ayrshire children and young people."

I am honestly overwhelmed by the response to this issue. It is clear that this conversation belongs to the families involved and I am just humbled to see so many of you stepping up to take part.

Let Belmont decide. South Ayrshire Council needs to stay out of the classroom.
This makes me so angry. Education should be about expanding opportunities not shutting them down.
Give the kids a chance. Limiting subjects is just gonna hurt them when they apply for uni later on.
Ridiculous that the council thinks they know better than teachers and parents what these kids need.
My son is already stressing about his options. Stop messing with our kids futures just to save a few quid.
