We, the undersigned, want the Belmont Day School Board of Trustees to halt the progression of their proposed expansion until such a time as it is determined that it will not be a detriment to public safety and traffic along Concord Avenue, and will not threaten the existing Highlands Meadow Cemetery.
There are too many questions about the impact of the proposed project on the surrounding community that need to be addressed. In an effort to make sure that all voices are heard, especially the voices of residents in that area, we hereby oppose the forward progression of this project.
Traffic flow through Belmont has been an issue for many years. The proposed Day School Plan will only exacerbate and compound existing traffic problems for the residents of Concord Avenue. On most days residents of Concord Avenue have difficulty merging into or out of their own driveways due to the excessive amount of traffic routed through this section of Concord Avenue. The limited information provided to local residents regarding the proposed facility and road, and the swift movement on this proposal is unacceptable. This proposal would have a significant impact on the town and the neighborhood and should not be hastily adopted without community input and a comprehensive and transparent review and discussion at Planning Board meetings.
