BELLA COOLA DEMANDS ROUTE 40 SERVICE BE RESTORED

I/we love the trip and the whole circle experience.

I think that given the area of the province that this ferry makes accessible it makes no sense to cut the ferry. If not fully subscribed why not just reduce the number of sailings rather than cancelling?

This route is essential to the future of tourism businesses in the area. Why can't we learn from the Norwegian example, where they turned money-losing coastal routes into lucrative tourism attractions?

Have been to Bella Coola and loved it. Would hate to see tourist not being able to enjoy this beautiful area and the negative affect this would have on the valley. Heckman's Pass is no fun to drive in the wet.

There must be another way !!!

This change will be devastating to the community and a disservice to the outside world that's needs access for this beautiful area.

By cutting these services you are effectively destroying the livelihoods for a great number of first nations peoples and those that have made Bella Coola their home.

How can the government be so callous as to cut off the sea route to Bella Coola! Absurd!!

It's short sighted to cut costs to the rural communities who depend on transportation infrastructure for their livelihood.

Please don't cancel route 40!!

I can not believe Canadian business is following the footsteps of the US banking crisis. How can the Prime Minister award bonuses, now in the form of salaries to nine executives when these same executives are adversely affecting so many of the general population of it's country. Cut all the bonuses / salary hikes and use that money to streamline the services, but find a way to keep the service going, please.

you should keep the ferry running. people count on the ferry for their livelihood.

This seems like a ridiculously short sighted proposal. We need our ferries and the infra-structure that we currently enjoy.

For heaven's sake, folks! Bella Coola needs to STAY connected!!

I support keeping the Bella Coola Port Hardy ferry service open. It is very unfortunate that the ferry service is functioning to support ferry workers and employees rather than the public. Politicians have done a good job of curtailing some gluttonous public employees, but have been pathetic in reigning in BC Ferries management and employees.

My family traveled Route 40 last summer and were as sad to hear of it being cancelled as we were stunned by the scenery and graciousness of the Bella Coola community. The BC government should carefully assess the financial and human implications of this decision. We, at least, would not have visited Bella Coola had it not been for the ferry service.
